ROS – Chapter 22 – Collaboration Partner

“Ah!” (Ingenmame)

“Ah… Ingenmame-san.” (Rika)

It was Ookami Rika.

『Ookami Rika!?』

『Wha!?』

『She’s so cute…!』

『This is my first time seeing her outside of the stream!!』

“Rika-chan! Why are you here?” (Ingenmame)

“Huh, why? Well, this is Poover’s office…” (Rika)

When the Ingen lady raised her head, there was the Poover building with its signboard right in front of her.

“Ah, so I ended up here ~” (Ingenmame)

“Ingenmame-san, are you really okay…? Which direction were you walking in?” (Rika)

“Um, well, um? Um…” (Ingenmame)

“You forgot again, didn’t you?” (Rika)

“Yeah!” (Ingenmame)

“Why do you sound proud…” (Rika)

Ookami Rika sighed and grabbed the Ingen lady’s hand.

“I can give you a ride to the station, let’s go.” (Rika)

“Thank you, Rika-chan. By the way, can you also give me Soramame-kun’s contact information?” (Ingenmame)

“I don’t want to, and I don’t know Sora-san’s contact information. Was that your intention?” (Rika)

“Oh… it’s not like that?” (Ingenmame)

She muttered and tilted her head.

(Something about Rika-chan’s demeanor… has changed?)

“Is something wrong, Rika-chan?” (Ingenmame)

“No, nothing in particular.” (Rika)

“It’s okay to talk about it if you want to, you know?” (Ingenmame)

『Wrong person.』

『She is clearly the wrong person to talk to.』

『I can’t help but feel anxious…』

『Both of them are incredibly cute though…』

“Thank you. But don’t worry, I’ll be fine.” (Ingenmame)

Ingen lady’s eyes widened slightly.

(Hmm… Rika-chan has changed.)

“Could it be that you dislike Ingenmame?” (Ingenmame)

“I actually like Ingenmame-san. You have some weird quirks, though…” (Rika)

Rika is someone who has worked hard to climb up in life.

She grew up in a poor family and never stopped working hard to make her parents wealthier.

She wants it… to make everyone happy.

To help each other and get along together.

To cooperate and increase the number of viewers.

That is Ookami Rika’s mindset.

“Rika-chan, you’ve become brighter than before.” (Ingenmame)

“Is that so? It might be thanks to Sora-san.” (Rika)

“Soramame-kun?” (Ingenmame)

“Yes. I have started thinking that I need to work even harder!” (Rika)

What Rika is referring to is the collaboration livestream that Sora did recently.

Everyone holding hands, helping each other, and livestreaming harmoniously.

Everyone who watched it enjoyed it.

They found it entertaining and wanted to see more.

Sora represented the ideal image that Rika is aiming for.

“I see… I’m cheering for you.” (Ingenmame)

(Seeing how Soramame-kun changed Rika-chan… I’d love to meet him.)

The Ingen lady’s face showed a troubled expression.

(I have something I want to do with Soramame-kun…)

Rika took Ingen lady’s hand and headed towards the station.

“Huh, Sora-san…?” (Rika)

[Sora & Sakuya Third-person PoV]

Sora moved his feet restlessly as he sipped on the Soramame Soup.

This was a new dish created by the shop that made Soramame Tofu.

He bought it as a takeaway and was drinking it with Sakuya near Shibuya Station.

Despite the drink not being particularly tasty, Sora was enjoying drinking it.

“…Should I give it a try too?” (Sakuya)

“It’s delicious, you know?” (Sora)

“…I have never had something like this before. It’s my first time.” (Sakuya)

“You have never been to a beef bowl restaurant either?” (Sora)

“No, I haven’t. If I were to eat at home, a top-class chef would come and prepare it with the finest beef…” (Sakuya)

“Oh, I see. It’s delicious, so let’s go together next time!” (Sora)

Sakuya was not familiar with the lifestyle of common people.

Sakuya was experiencing things like conveyor belt sushi and chain restaurants for the first time together with Sora, and she was quite surprised.

Sora, on the other hand, didn’t pay much attention, but it was at that moment that he finally realized something.

“Ah… could it be that Sakuya doesn’t really like it?” (Sora)

“I don’t have any particular preferences. It is quite delicious. But… I’m surprised by the number of families here.” (Sakuya)

“It’s because it’s cheap, you know? That’s why everyone comes.” (Sora)

On the day when the three of them established the agency “Onmyou” a phone call came through.

It was from their father.

As always, he spoke with a condescending tone.

And then, an argument ensued… Their father even threatened to make Sakuya quit school.

However, Sakuya’s determination remained unchanged.

She wanted to be by Sora’s side. She wanted to support him.

(Now that I think about it, I feel like I have been going out with Sora most of the time… Could this be considered dating…?)

As they lifted their heads, the two of them realized that they were being stared at, drawing attention.

[Sora PoV]

“Hey, isn’t that Ueno Sora…?” (Passerby)

“No way!?” (Passerby)

“A real Heian-era person…!” (Passerby)

I’m getting a lot of attention for some reason.

I recently realized that I have become somewhat of a celebrity.

It’s quite exciting… and I owe it to Sakuya as well.

“Yabba, so cute…!” (Passerby)

“Don’t you think they are cool?” (Passerby)

“Daddy~! That person is the stupid one, right~?” (Passerby’s child)

You mean the one called Heian Kyō?1” (Passerby)

There is a lot of information coming into my mind…

Using my magic, I lightly shut out the information, and then I noticed a small child nearby.

The child was looking up at me and sucking their finger.

“Hmm? What is it?” (Sora)

“Mmm…” (Child)

“Well… it’s a secret.” (Sora)

“Mmm?” (Child)

“Yeah, that’s right.” (Sora)

“Mmm!” (Child)

“Oh, I see! That’s amazing!”

Sakuya, who had been watching this, was dumbfounded.

“Why is the conversation working, Sora…” (Sakuya)

“It seems like this child can see it.” (Sora)

“Eh…?” (Sakuya)

I never expected to meet someone like this in the middle of the city.

I know a few people who possess this ability, but among them, only Seimei has been able to handle it perfectly.

“But you know, it’s better not to be able to see it.2” (Sora)

In Seimei’s case, he had the talent of an onmyoji.

He was a genius that I acknowledged.

But for ordinary people who possess this ability, they only encounter unpleasant things.

“So, Onii-chan will give you a charm.” (Sora)

*Boop*, gently tapping the forehead, granting protection and sealing the power.

“Hey, I can’t see it anymore… the black fuzziness.” (Sakuya)

“Yeah, you won’t see it anymore.” (Sora)

I smiled and ruffled his head.

Then, a loud voice was heard.

“Tomei!” (Child’s Mom)

“Mama~!” (Child)

It seems that the child had gotten lost and his mother had been desperately searching for them.

“This child… always wanders off somewhere and disappears. They end up getting into dangerous situations… and there’s always that black fuzziness…” (Child’s Mom)

“He was being drawn by other’s magic power. I think he won’t see it anymore, so you can rest easy from now on.” (Sora)

Powerful things tend to gather in places with strong magic power.

Like curse power, magic power also has its troublesome characteristics.

Most likely, this child noticed my magic power and approached me.

“Thank you~! Onii-chan!” (Child)

“You’re welcome. Take care and stay well.” (Sora)

I waved my hand as I bid them farewell.

Sakuya asked a question.

“Sora, what do you mean by being drawn by magic power…?” (Sakuya)

“Well, it’s something one shouldn’t know, shouldn’t see, shouldn’t hear… I think it’s been around since ancient times. There are places that have a strong magnetic field of magic power which might house yokai or demons there. People who can see them unconsciously get drawn towards them.” (Sora)

“I see… That’s interesting.” (Sakuya)

In addition to that, there are also quite impressive ways to use the ability to see, but… I don’t possess it, so I’m not familiar with the details.

“Well, more importantly… how’s Katsu-san’s growth so far?” (Sora)

“Katsu-san is doing great. While not at the same level of momentum as Sora, he still has strong support from the middle-aged audience. It’s like he is giving people hope and showing that age doesn’t matter when it comes to pursuing their dreams… something along those lines, I suppose.” (Sakuya)

Katsu-san also has a high level of charisma.

I have heard that he has attracted an audience who previously only watched television but have now transitioned to the internet.

“I’m glad things are going well.” (Sora)

“Thanks to the diva Miho, too.” (Sakuya)

Miho-san had already left Japan and started her activities overseas.

Her final livestream happened to be the collaboration livestream with “Onmyou”.

She achieved remarkable numbers, and her momentum has only been growing.

“She did mention wanting to repay us. Well, since she felt hesitant about receiving money or gifts, maybe she found joy in achieving that level of success.” (Sakuya)

“That might be true… It could have been her way of showing her appreciation.” (Sora)

I have had a few conversations with Yasunishi Miho, and she’s someone who is skilled at reading people’s hearts.

I am sure her songs also have lyrics and a voice that are easy to empathize with. That’s why she’s so wonderful and popular.

“Oh, Sora-san…?” (?)

When I turned towards the source of the voice, I saw Ookami Rika and… a woman holding a handful of green beans.

With her slightly green hair, standing next to Ookami Rika, the difference in their bust sizes was clearly noticeable.

“Rika-chan, Soramame-kun was here? Did you bring me here because I said I wanted to meet him?” (Ingenmame)

“No, I didn’t have that intention… It’s just a remarkable coincidence.” (Rika)

I know Rika-san, but… not the person next to her.

“Why do you have Ingenmame?” (Sora)

“Why are you drinking Soramame Soup?” (Ingenmame)

We both looked at each other and tilted our heads at the same time.

“Hmm?” (Rika)

“What?” (Sakuya)

Sakuya and Rika stared silently at each other while Ingenmame-san and I were looking at each other.

“You’re Kamisaki Sakuya-san…” (Rika)

“And you must be Ookami Rika, nice to meet you.” (Sakuya)

While we were exchanging words like “Hmm…” and “Why?”, a serious atmosphere hung in the air.

“I have watched many of your live streams. The momentum of Onmyou is impressive… I never expected you to announce its establishment at that timing.” (Rika)

“Indeed. If it wasn’t for that timing, we wouldn’t have left such a strong impression.” (Sakuya)

“As expected of you desu.” (Rika)

“I see. It seems that Ookami Rika, despite the decrease in viewership, has been gaining more subscribers. Normally, both would go down.” (Sakuya)

“I decided to focus on each individual fan. Before, I only cared about view counts and delved into the lower levels… but thanks to Sora-san’s help, I was able to change.” (Rika)

Indeed.

Sora’s viral moment was sparked by her.

“I wanted to ask you something.” (Rika)

“What is it?” (Sakuya)

“Do you like your family, Sakuya-san?” (Rika)

“…I don’t. Especially not my father.” (Sakuya)

“I see…” (Rika)

A serious atmosphere filled the air, with tension existing only between the two of them.

In the midst of that, the Ingen lady’s voice echoed.

“Yes! It’s really delicious even as miso soup! I live in Chiba, and when it comes to Chiba’s local specialty, it’s Ingenmame…” (Ingenmame)

“Ingenmame…? Ingenmame…” (Sakuya)

Sakuya’s cheek twitched.

“What is she talking about…?” (Sakuya)

“Ahaha… Ingenmame-san has always been like that, you know…” (Rika)

“Are they cursed?” (Sakuya)

Rika said it with seriousness.

“Perhaps… by Ingenmame.” (Rika)

I was troubled.

While it was nice to garner interest from other streamers, I felt like she was a little off.

“Ingenmame streamers are amazing in a way, aren’t they?” (Sora)

“Yes! As an Ingenmame streamer, I really wanted to talk to Soramame-san! After all, Sora-san is also a bean-themed streamer, right?” (Ingenmame)

“Well, I’m an onmyoji, actually.” (Sora)

“Ehhhh, what?! You mean being an onmyoji isn’t your side job!?” (Ingenmame)

Sakuya murmured as they observed the situation.

“Seems like the number of idiots has increased.” (Sakuya)

“Yes…” (Rika)

The woman with green beans blinked her eyes repeatedly in surprise.

“I thought there was a big bean revolution happening because of all the buzz about Soramame… I had things I wanted to do too…” (Ingenmame)

“Things you wanted to do?” (Sora)

“I wanted to grow beans in a dungeon. It’s not something you can normally do, but I thought maybe I could do it with Soramame-san… I have been watching your live streams and you have always made the impossible possible, so I thought maybe it could happen…” (Ingenmame)

Finally, Sakuya’s lips curled up into a smile.

“Ingen-san, where did you get the idea about growing crops in a dungeon?” (Sakuya)

“Well, it’s just something I came up with… There are places in dungeons that have good soil. I tried growing vegetables there… and they turned out really delicious! If they taste that good on the upper floors, I wondered how much better they would be on the lower floors!” (Ingenmame)

Normally, an average person wouldn’t think of growing vegetables in a dungeon.

“Have you streamed that?” (Rika)

“No, it’s just a personal hobby.” (Ingenmame)

Rika groaned, holding her head in her hands.

“If you focused on streaming that instead of Ingenmame, it would definitely gain popularity…” (Rika)

“I don’t have the skills for that… I’m not good at fighting monsters. I find growing beans more enjoyable.” (Ingenmame)

I was conflicted.

Ingenmame-san didn’t seem to have the desire to grow and become popular, or to chase after fame.

She simply wanted to try something she genuinely felt interested in.

“Are you in trouble, by any chance?” (Sora)

“I can’t dive into the lower floors, so I’m doing my best on the upper floors, especially the shallow ones.” (Ingenmame)

“I see~” (Sora)

Well, in that case, it’s fine.

“Then, I’ll take you there.” (Sora)

“Huh…?” (Ingenmame)

“Let’s grow vegetables in the lower floors!” (Sora)

After a few seconds of silence, Ookami Rika shouted out.

“What… what?! Sora-san?! Can you decide so easily? That’s practically a collaboration, you know?” (Rika)

“Is that so? Sakuya.” (Sora)

“Yeah.” (Sakuya)

“Well, why not?” (Sora)

Furthermore, Rika shouted.

“Ehhhhh?! How can you be so casual about it? It’s our first collaboration, right? It should be with bigger streamers…!” (Rika)

Even if she says “bigger streamers”, I’m not really familiar with many other than those around my age.

“It’s not about who the other person is right? What’s the reason behind Ingenmame-san wanting to grow vegetables?” (Sora)

“Me? Well, it’s because I want everyone to smile.” (Ingenmame)

That’s what I thought.

People who do something they love are usually kind-hearted.

She wants to make it more delicious, and make people smile.

Without such heartfelt intentions, it won’t last long.

“I like beans too, and I’m curious about what they will taste like.” (Sora)

I smiled confidently.

Sakuya, who was standing next to me, had a resigned expression on her face.

“Since Sora said he’ll do it, I will take care of the rest. The timing of the announcement and the schedule…” (Sakuya)

“Ah, I forgot to end the stream.” (Ingenmame)

With Ingenmame’s words, there was a momentary silence in the room.

“““…”””

*Click*

“I’m sorry… I messed up. Ah, ahaha…” (Ingenmame)

Ookami Rika, who was watching, had her eyes and mouth wide open.

Sakuya quietly averted her gaze.

“Well, it happens sometimes!” (Sora)

In fact, I have also made mistakes and forgotten to end a stream before!

Needless to say, the online forums were in an uproar that day.

“Don’t worry about it!” (Sora)

And thus, this was essentially Sora and his first collaboration.

TL notes:

Thanks for reading!

I hope the magic stuff wasn’t too confusing.

For a refresher, Ingenmame is green beans, but I guess it can also be the nickname of that streamer so it might get a bit confusing. Btw in the dungeon cooking chapter, I named the chapter collaboration stream, but I think it can also be called Joint Stream or something. So maybe this is why in this chapter, the author referred to this as the first collaboration.

Footnote:

  1. Probably wrong translation? Raw is “頭平安狂って言われてる奴だろ”
  2. I don’t think what he could see was specified, but I think it might be a yokai/spirit

ROS – Chapter 21 – Green Bean Streamer

“It’s delicious…!” (Miho)

Those were the first words uttered by Anzai Miho.

After bringing home the meat from Pigdelicious, Sora handed the ingredients over to Katsu.

Sakuya, who had always assumed that Sora also cooked, couldn’t help but interject.

“Sora, don’t you cook?” (Miho)

“I can, though all my recipes are outdated. But today, Katsu-san is the star.” (Sora)

“… I see.” (Miho)

Sora approached Sakuya, who nodded lightly and asked her.

“Do you cook, Sakuya?” (Sora)

Surprised by the sudden approach, Sakuya took a few steps back.

“Y-You’re getting too close… If it were me, I would hire a chef. It’s safe, reliable, and the taste is exceptional.” (Sakuya)

“I see. That’s a shame.” (Sora)

“A shame…? Sora, entrusting cooking to a professional is more perfect than doing it yourself. Amateur cooking has its limitations.” (Sakuya)

Sora gazed at Katsu, looking delighted.

“That’s true, but you can’t surpass someone’s feelings.” (Sora)

“Feelings…?” (Sakuya)

“Even with something as simple as onigiri or frozen food, if it’s filled with someone’s feelings, it can taste incredibly delicious.” (Sora)

“But frozen food is something that’s made. Can it be considered homemade cooking?” (Sakuya)

“It’s still considered homemade cooking.” (Sora)

Sora stated this firmly. That’s what he believed.

Sometimes, there are people who say, “Frozen food isn’t real cooking!”… but I think that’s incorrect.

During busy mornings, my parents prepare and make it for me. Of course, I also make it myself.

“In whatever form it may be, like with the intention of wanting someone to enjoy it… that’s more than enough. Even the Soramame Tofu tasted delicious because it had that kind of sentiment behind it” (Sora)

Sora’s gaze fell on Katsu.

Anzai Miho’s “It’s delicious” brought a bright smile to his face.

“Phew~! I’m glad!” (Katsu)

Observing this, Sakuya looked down at their own palm.

“Even with onigiri… it’s fine…” (Sakuya)

(Indeed, Sora always says “It’s delicious” no matter what he eats. He has never once said something tasted bad. Though I’m afraid of taking risks and failing… even if I do fail, with Sora…)

Sakuya thought to herself, “Let’s give it a try” within their heart.

Upon thinking that, Sakuya recalled the words spoken by her butler recently.

“Sakuya-sama, you have changed a bit.” (Butler)

“Changed? Don’t joke around.” (Sakuya)

“People often don’t realize it themselves, Sakuya-sama.” (Butler)

Those words echoed in Sakuya’s mind.

Upon recalling those words, Sakuya found herself in a state of contemplation.

(To think that I would do something for someone else… Maybe I changed just a little?)

Sakuya couldn’t help but chuckle softly.

(No one to trust. Relying on no one. That’s what I thought… But now, could it be because of Sora?)

Sakuya had undergone a slight change.

The goal of making Sora famous remained unchanged. However, the beliefs Sakuya had cultivated all this time seemed to be melting away due to Sora’s influence.

Sakuya acknowledged it.

“Well, if it’s for Sora’s sake… I suppose it’s fine.” (Sakuya)

The camera on the drone was pointed towards Anzai Miho and the others.

Comments started streaming in.

『Katsu making Katsudon LOL』

『Seems like Katsu loves Katsudon.』

『I want to eat it too…!』

『Today is katsudon, right?』

『Nom nom! Nom nom!』

『If Anzai Miho says it’s delicious, it must be seriously good. She doesn’t lie.』

『Pigdelicious meat that can satisfy even top-class individuals… the demand will rise.』

『Will there be a frenzy of people rushing to get it?』

『Hey! Show Sora and the silver-haired girl on camera! I felt a momentary romantic comedy vibe!』

『What’s going on lol』

“Oh~! I’m so glad I was able to make a good memory in the end!” (Miho)

“It was really fortunate, Miho-san… If we didn’t have the meat, it would have been a big problem~” (Katsu)

“Katsu-kun, you could have used a different kind of meat.” (Miho)

“A different kind of meat…?” (Katsu)

Their gazes shifted towards the quiet Gravito watching the exchange.

“…Oi, what are you looking at? I’m not meat.” (Gravito)

“How about tanuki hot pot? That sounds good.” (Katsu)

“Tanuki soup could work too, right?” (Miho)

“What on earth are you two talking about?!” (Gravito)

『lol』

『lmao』

『Emergency rations LOL』

『Ponpoko Tanuki.』

As the comments were filled with discussions about Gravito, Val, who was feeling envious, started pondering.

(If I were to develop something called “Armor Soup”, would everyone consider it as a joke and talk about it…?)

Pigdelicious meat is currently the top trending topic, and even Anzai Miho made it into the rankings.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that Katsu’s debut and the first live stream after the establishment of Onmyou was a huge success.

The scale had already surpassed that of a mere gathering of streamers. A force to be reckoned with had been formed, it is impossible for anyone to ignore their presence.

『On second thought, this is one hell of a group lol』

『I love the atmosphere they create.』

『It feels like I’m having a meal together with them.』

『This is the first time I have seen Anzai Miho laughing so hard…』

『Looks like a lot of fun…!』

『Wait, who’s even in this stream? This is incredible!』

“Right now, we have Sakuya, Katsu-san, Miho-san, Val and Gravito.” (Sora)

『The scale is just too amazing, lol.』

『What an incredible lineup!』

『All of them came together thanks to Sora, right…?』

『Yeah, it’s all thanks to Sora.』

As we settled down, numerous questions started flooding in.

Sora began answering them.

(Now that I think about it, I never left time for this in a while.)

“Yes, I’m definitely more of a bath1 person. It makes me feel indulgent…” (Sora)

『By the way, Sora, how many techniques can you use?』

Ah… I think I was asked the same question before.

At that time, if I recall correctly, there was interference from a monster, so I couldn’t answer.

The comments continued to increase.

『I still haven’t seen the Fifth technique in action.』

『You stopped using it during the battle with the Shogun.』

『I’m really curious about the Fifth technique…』

『For onmyoji, isn’t the Fifth technique the foundation? There must be more beyond the basics, right?』

Hmm… everyone is paying close attention.

“Well, that’s correct. The Fifth technique is indeed the foundation, but of course, there is more beyond that.” (Sora)

『Whoaaa!』

『There’s no end to your talents!』

『As expected of my Sora.』

『Sora belongs to all of us.』

Everyone’s Sora, huh…

Looking up,

The weather is clear,

No clouds in sight,

It’s a perfect sunny day.

“Certainly, Sora belongs to everyone.” (Sora)

『That sounds profound.』

『Sora also means ‘sky’, right?』

『What about the Shogun? Shee seemed like a formidable opponent.』

『The Shogun was strong!』

“Ahaha… that child could manipulate curse miasma to some extent, but she is still inexperienced…” (Sora)

The power of the Mikage clan from the Heian period was far greater than that.

At the very least, in terms of raw power, they were the second strongest after onmyoji.

Thanks to the peace, that power has weakened. That’s great.2

『LMAO his stirring up trouble.』

『Love the way you provoke.』

『Sora, stirring things up as naturally as always.』

“No, no! I didn’t mean to provoke! Please believe me!” (Sora)

A woman walks through the streets, holding a bag of green beans.

“Green beans~ Does anyone need green beans~?” (Women)

『This person is doing another green bean stream.』

『Streaming to sell green beans lol』

『Scary! Who is this…?!』

『First time seeing her? She is always like this.』

『Are all bean sellers crazy or something…?』

The number of subscribers steadily grows, reaching tens of thousands.

However, most people have subscribed out of mere curiosity.

“Ah, I heard that green beans are called ‘Ingenmame’3 in kanji. It sounds kind of erotic, doesn’t it!” (Women)

『What’s gotten into her all of a sudden!?』

『What is she even saying…』

『Yabbai…』

『This woman is making outrageous comments…』

『And yet, she’s gaining popularity because of it.』

『Clearly, she’s just mentally unstable…!』

“Why is everyone so worked up? If you have any troubles, feel free to consult with Ingenmame, okay?” (Women)

『You can talk with them?!』

『She must have mistaken who to consult with!』

『What on earth does it even mean to consult with Ingenmame?!』

The green bean women’s footsteps come to a halt.

“Ah” (Women)

“Ah…” (???)

TL notes:

Thanks for reading!

I guess he never used his fifth technique in the previous chapter and Shogun just backed away before he could use it.

As someone who sucks at cooking, I consider myself cooking when using frozen food or making instant noodles. I really put my heart inside pouring that hot water inside the noodles xd

I have absolutely no idea if she is referring to herself as ingenmame towards the end, or just crazy and telling people to talk with actual green beans.

Also I wonder if this is that streamer from earlier chapters who want to collab with Sora. I thought she would be an irrelevant character, so I closed one eye on her earlier lines, so what you think of her before is probably different.

Footnote:

  1. Basically he prefers baths over showers. I am a shower person tho.
  2. I think he means that since curse miasma steals power from monsters, and there is lesser of them in the present era, the power is weaker compared to the past. I could be wrong, raw is “平和になったお陰で、その力も弱くなったんだ。凄く良い事だよ.”
  3. Ingenmame is basically green beans, although when I look it up I get common beans or something like that. I just decided to use green beans since people know what that is. Also no idea why it sounds erotic.

ROS – Chapter 20 – Abe no Seimei / Deep Battle

[Heian Period, Abe no Seimei PoV]

I was a prodigy Onmyoji.

In fact, since I was young, I could see demons and spirits, and possessed special powers.

This power I possessed was something that an Onmyoji shouldn’t originally have… But let’s leave that aside for now.

Thanks to my special talent, I ended up enrolling in an Onmyoji training school.

I emerged from the rural countryside and came to Heian-kyo1 where the training school is located and a place where I could fully demonstrate my talent.

From here on, I will rise to the top.

I will attain power and stand above everyone else. There’s no way I’m going back to the countryside.

Onmyoji is just a stepping stone to achieve my goal. The means to acquire power.

“Yes! I look forward to working with you from now on!” (Seimei)

According to my plans, once I entered the Onmyoji training school, I was praised as a prodigy and hailed as a genius.

“With the prodigy joining us, we can rest easy.” (Person)

“That’s right. Lately, the atmosphere in Kyoto has been deteriorating. Now we can feel relieved.” (Person)

Fufufu, when the time comes for me to seize power, I will make sure to put you seniors to work, just you wait.

As I harbored ambitions, my senpai placed their hand on my shoulder.

“But, Seimei, never get close to that man in our midst.” (Senpai)

“That man…?” (Seimei)

“Don’t mention his name…” (Senpai)

“Huh?” (Seimei)

My senpai Onmyoji colleagues began to tremble.

“He’s dangerous.” (SenpaI)

“Yeah, I don’t want to remember…” (SenpaI)

“He’s mentally unstable…” (Senpai)

“It’s a mystery why he became an Onmyoji…” (Senpai)

“We thought he was possessed by an evil spirit, so we performed exorcisms on him dozens of times… His true nature is just bizarre…” (Senpai)

“Huh? Ehhhh…?” (Seimei)

I wondered who that man was, whom all the senpai Onmyojis spoke of with such persistence.

I couldn’t help but imagine what kind of terrifying individual he must be.

Is he truly as cold and chilling as they described?

… I couldn’t help but wonder if I would eventually be under his command.

The Onmyoji, feared by them. Surely, he must be powerful. However, he shouldn’t be stronger than me.

Humans are always filled with curiosity.

When something piques our interest, we can’t help but take action.

“That’s the Onmyoji with the unstable mind that the senpais were talking about…” (Seimei)

And there, the man I saw was… sitting on the veranda, holding a plate of soybean curd with broad beans2 in one hand, humming a tune. Occasionally, he would gaze at the sky with a serene expression.

“Hmm hmm~ Munch.” (???)

That food has a reputation for being unpleasant even in Heian-kyo.

I also tried it, but it’s not meant for human consumption.

I prefer flavorful food that has a rich taste…

Well, he doesn’t seem particularly scary, does he? What’s so terrifying about him?

His appearance is ordinary, and his magic power is even weaker than mine. He’s definitely weaker than me.

He’s just a regular Onmyoji, nothing to be afraid of.

Honestly… I wasted my fear for nothing.

“Hmm? Is someone there?” (???)

The man notices my presence.

Even though I had completely concealed my presence, I’m a little surprised that he noticed me.

“Y-Yes…! I’m sorry, I was just curious and peeking…” (Seimei)

“Oh! That outfit… You’re from the Onmyoji training school, right? This place is usually restricted to authorized Onmyoji… but well, whatever! Oh boy, I’m really looking forward to your future!” (???)

The man has a delightful smile and gestures me over with his hand.

“Come, come~!” (???)

My feet moved naturally towards him.

Looking back now, I should have run away at that moment.

I was immature.

(Perfect…! First, I will bring this person under my control. If I can have control over someone who is feared by everyone…!)

I felt the desire to test it out. The real Onmyoji vs the Onmyoji from the training school.

I wanted to make it clear through the difference in our magical power that I was the stronger one.

To attain power! That’s why I came to Heian-kyo!

I unleashed my magical power while approaching him, trying to intimidate him.

“Fufu… Senpai, I am stronge–” (Seimei)

“『What, you little brat. Are you trying to pick a fight?』” (?)

From behind the man, I could see a bright red flame.

“──Ah!!”

My steps came to a halt.

I realized I was trembling.

(That… that’s not just an ordinary Shikigami…!!)

“Hmm? Is there something behind me? Ah, it’s Sumeragi.” (???)

(Why is this man so calm, even with such a monstrous being right behind him…! Is he sane!?)

Shikigamis are normally companions that consist of youkai and evil spirits… if you can befriend them.

However, the Shikigami this man possesses doesn’t fit into any of those categories.

It’s a power that ordinary Onmyoji absolutely do not possess.

(This Shikigami… This Shikigami…! It’s a god!!)

“Sumeragi, don’t intimidate him.” (???)

“『But this brat is trying to intimidate us. They are even emitting killing intent.』” (Sumeragi)

“It doesn’t matter. He is still a child.” (???)

This man never broke his gentle smile.

“『I don’t like being underestimated.』” (Sumeragi)

“Don’t make me repeat myself. Stop it.” (???)

“『Ugh…!』” (Sumeragi)

The space trembles.

The magical power released by that man for just an instant… It overwhelmingly surpassed my own magical power.

And it silenced the god.

“Ahaha, sorry about that.” (???)

He gives a wry smile and perfectly concealed and controlled his magic.

This man… he is godlike in every aspect…! Amazing…!

…This is what a true Onmyoji looks like!!

Before I knew it, I found myself seeking guidance from him.

He mentioned that Sumeragi became his Shikigami as a byproduct when he was lifting the curse of the Mikage clan.

“I’m actually not good at teaching others, you know~” (???)

I couldn’t understand at all why I had become his disciple.

After all, I came to Heian-kyo to rise to the top.

I didn’t really want to become an Onmyoji.

My goal was to attain a position of power… to manipulate others. I didn’t come here to be used by someone else.

Before I knew it, I was mesmerized by him.

I was captivated by his power.

It was so intense that it began to change my dreams.

I want to become a true Onmyoji.

I want to be like him.

How can I become a strong Onmyoji like him?

With that determination in my heart, I ask this question.

“You’re Seimei… right? Then, make a promise.” (???)

“A promise…?” (Seimei)

“Onmyoji are those who save people. They should never stain their hands with power or wrongdoing.” (???)

It felt as if he could see right through me.

His eyes were like the sky.

“No matter what happens, save people. Save them more than anyone else, more than me.” (???)

“To save… more than anyone else… Yes!” (Seimei)

I made a vow.

To become a true Onmyoji, I will save people more than anyone else.

I want to become a person who can spread the name of Abe no Seimei far and wide.

If I do that, my message should reach him.

Is he mentally unstable? I understand that. But more than that… I was infatuated with his power.

“Oh, um… Senpai…” (Seimei)

“Yeah? What is it?” (???)

“Your name… please tell me.” (Seimei)

“Ah, my name, huh.” (???)

I asked, and he answered.

His name is…

“I am…” (???)

[Present day, Sora PoV]

[Sora!] (Sakuya)

“I’m okay, Sakuya.” (Sora)

*Kyiiiinnn!* The swords and spears clash against each other.

『This is amazing lol』

『The battle between deep-level adventurers is insane!』

『This is really interesting…』

『Is this allowed?』

『I don’t think they are actually trying to kill each other.』

『But damn, this is too crazy LOL. The monsters in the level are getting caught in the crossfire LMAO』

『Well, occasionally people fight over prey.』

“It’s mine! The prey is mine!” (Shogun)

“I told you, let’s split it halfway~” (Sora)

“But then, my stomach won’t be satisfied!” (Shogun)

Sora is troubled.

(I wonder what I should do in this situation. After all, I was the one who found the Pigdelicious first… but it’s kind of sad to see this child’s stomach rumbling with hunger.)

The curse of the short lifespan in the Mikage clan is no more. However, the power of the curse miasma still remains.

Her physical abilities far exceed those of an ordinary person.

“If I want it, I’ll take it! That’s my creed3!” (Shogun)

“You’re quite savage… hmm.” (Sora)

Sora creates some distance.

In a battle against a spear, a sword is at a slight disadvantage in terms of reach.

(Close combat is troublesome… I don’t want to hurt her either. Then, I will make it as thin as possible…)

“Second technique…” (Sora)

I hold my fingers in a gun-like position.

“<Curse Barrier>” (Sora)

“An invisible barrier… Damn it!” (Shogun)

I attempted to trap the red-haired girl called Shogun by deploying thin curse barriers where she moved.

However, due to her exceptional physical abilities, she managed to escape.

(She has a beast-like instinct… It’s impressive how she can escape even when she can’t see the barrier. Maybe she is just incredibly perceptive?)

“Phew… hey, calm down a bit. I understand you’re frustrated because you’re hungry.” (Sora)

I increased the number of curse barriers.

The red-haired Shogun thinks to herself.

(Ugh, these barriers are so annoying! I sense a power similar to mine… Who the heck is he?! I need to end this quickly before my curse miasma runs out… I won’t kill him, of course, but I hope he won’t complain about getting a little injured!)

“I haven’t eaten for days already!” (Shogun)

The Shogun throws her spear.

(She threw her spear…? That won’t hit. Is she planning to charge barehanded?)

The spear passes through beside Sora.

(It passed through after all… huh?)

Suddenly, a strong gust of wind blows.

The Shogun disappears from Sora’s line of sight.

A voice comes from behind.

“All-out curse miasma… <Instant Boost>!” (Shogun)

Sora thinks to himself.

(She must have poured all the remaining curse miasma into strengthening her body and leaped right behind me…! That’s quite impressive! I won’t be able to defend or evade in time… or so she thinks)

The Shogun grabs the spear she threw and aims to pierce Sora’s back.

(I got it…! A surprise attack from behind! There’s no way to dodge at this distance…! This will get me my meal…!)

… Suddenly, Sora clasps his hands together in a hand seal.

Even though there are no comments flowing, those who witness it can’t help but think.

『Is that the Fourth technique?』

『Is he using the Second technique for full defense…?』

『I can’t imagine Sora hurting a girl.』

『Come to think of it, we don’t know much about the techniques.』

『What is he going to use?』

The First technique, the Second technique… to the Fifth technique, form the foundation of an Onmyoji’s skills.

Onmyoji must learn all the way up to the Fifth technique in order to become a full-fledged onmyoji.

The First and Second techniques involve the manipulation of magic power.

The Third and Fourth techniques involve the application of those techniques and the manipulation of the soul.

And so, the final technique that encompasses all of them… the Fifth technique…

Suddenly, a dense surge of spiritual power envelops Sora.

“Fifth technique…” (Sora)

“──────!” (Shogun)

In that instant, the Shogun’s eyes widen, and a chilling sensation runs down her spine.

Ceasing her attack, the Shogun quickly creates a significant distance between herself and Sora.

She gulps audibly. Sweat trickles down her cheeks.

*Gokun…!*

(Wh-What was that just now… What is this… Who is this person…!? That was definitely dangerous!)

(Oh, she’s perceptive after all… Truly worthy of the Mikage clan.)

“Sora-sama~! I have divided the meat for you! It’s perfectly split in half!” (Val)

“Oh, thank you, Val!” (Sora)

“Huh!? Hey, I didn’t say I want only half!” (Shogun)

Taking advantage of the distracted Shogun, Sora unleashes a technique.

“<Quadruple Cursed Barrier>!” (Sora)

“Wha-?!” (Shogun)

I deployed four layers of overlapping walls, sealing Shogun inside.

The trapped Shogun attacks with her spear.

“It won’t break…! What is this wall?!” (Shogun)

“Alright, Val! Did you get the meat?” (Sora)

“Yes!” (Val)

『Oh, is it time to bully Shogun?』

『Is this the part where she says ‘Kuh! Kill me!’4?』

『LOL』

『Shogun has a great style, with her red hair.』

『I love the red hair.』

Nigenrundayo!!5” (Sora)

I hold the meat up with both hands and run off.

『He is running away, lol.』

『LOLLL』

『Why is he running away lmao.』

『Screaming and running, that’s so lame lol』

『That’s so Sora-like LMAO.』

『I love how he didn’t actually hurt anyone, seriously.』

“That kid’s eyes are scary! Super scary!” (Sora)

“Sora-sama! Gravito is far behind!” (Val)

“W-Wait~! Don’t leave me behind~!” (Gravito)

It is difficult to run with a tanuki plushie.

Sora continues to run with a light-hearted tone.

“Hah, hah, hah!” (Sora)

With the Pigdelicious meat in hand, Sora managed to escape successfully.

After defeating the target, despite fighting over the meat with someone, Sora made sure to leave exactly half of the meat together with the rest of the rations he had with him.

“Deep levels… scary~!” (Sora)

TL notes:

Thanks for reading!

We got baited. It turns out that Shogun isn’t Abe no Seimei’s descendent. Also, the encounter with Shogun didn’t really seem all that scary when you are as powerful as Sora. Well it’s always safer to run away from crazy.

Firstly, this chapter keeps changing between third and first person I think, so it might be weird at parts.

Secondly, I don’t think Sora showed the fifth technique here. Well he did use it, but nothing was said other than Shogun felt the effects.

Thirdly, I updated the character list with the various techniques so you can refer to that if you forgot about them.

Footnote:

  1. Heian-kyo is the former name for Kyoto, the capital city of Japan
  2. I just realised that Soramame can also mean broad beans in japanese too. I thought it was just a meme, but its an actual food. Well, I don’t consider broad beans food either, so more like bad ingredient I guess.
  3. Creed = system of religious beliefs; a faith
  4. Come on, you guys know this line right? The infamous female knight gets captured line.
  5. Sora never actually said this lol. He just screamed “OUHHH!!” and ran away. But I thought it was a bit weird so I changed it to this for a quick lol. Btw this is that famous line from Jojo if you don’t know. It basically means run away/escape.

ROS – Chapter 19.2 – Collaboration Stream

I contemplate.

The deep levels are quite deep.

Based on the current stream, the objective is to find and defeat the target.

And the time it takes to transport it.

I thought it would be easier to find, but it seems not.

“I guess it isn’t easy to find Pigdelicious, huh?” (Sora)

『The encounter rate for that super rare monster is only a few percent!』

『Isn’t it quite unlikely to find it?』

『I have never seen it in any live streams.』

『Since it only exists in the deep levels, the meat from any part of its body is said to surpass even the highest quality meat… It’s like an urban legend.』

『I have only heard rumors. Besides, there aren’t many people who even venture into the deep levels in the first place.』

“Hey, Gravito. Can’t you use your nose to search?” (Sora)

“Are you mistaking me for a real tanuki?! I’m not a tanuki!!” (Gravito)

“Give it a try, and if it doesn’t work, we will give up.” (Sora)

“It’s embarrassing! Oyy, don’t lift me up!” (Gravito)

Gravito growls and raises its front paw in a threatening manner.

『LOL』

『He is even cuter when he is angry HAHAHA』

『I like this side of Gravito better than before lol』

『Cute lol』

“Sora-sama! Could it be… that thing over there?” (Valsark)

Val points with his finger.

I turn my gaze in that direction and see a creature with golden eyes, its entire body shining in gold. It is clinging to the ceiling of the dungeon.

“That’s it!” (Sora)

『Ohh! It’s real!』

『It’s my first time seeing the real thing, and it’s kind of creepy lol.』

『The way its eyes are moving is scary!』

『No way it’s that right?』

『I am losing my appetite by looking at it LOLL』

Val’s <Severance> might completely wipe it and Gravito’s gravity magic might crush it.

However, if I personally defeat it, I can ensure the meat remains in the safest condition.

The part that can’t be eaten is the head. So, I will aim for the head…!

“First Technique, <Water Fate Thread>!” (Sora)

I circulate my mana and reinforce my body.

Then, I leap towards the creature, ready to strike.

“Gyoro!!” (Pigdelicious)

Noticing my presence, the Pigdelicious attempts to escape.

I raise my finger, poised like a gun, and mutter,

“Second Technique, <Curse Barrier>!”

I deploy a curse barrier at the location where it would likely try to flee, cutting off its escape route.

The Pigdelicious creature crashes into the curse barrier.

“Caught it.” (Sora)

『The sequence of actions was so amazing that the comments have stopped.』

『I just realized it.』

『We were all so focused on watching lol』

Without letting this opportunity go, I entangle the threads.

In that moment, someone with red hair appears from an unseen position.

Huh…? Red hair…? And this magic…

A red flash runs through.

“Today’s meal…! <Scarlet Spear>!” (?)

“<Water Fate Threads>!”

Our attacks collide, and it is evident to anyone that an overwhelming assault strikes directly at Pigdelicious.

『Wowww!』

『It’s practically obliterated lol』

『What, what is this!?』

『What’s happening!?』

The blood splattered onto Sora.

“…It turned completely red.” (Sora)

With a stunned expression on my face, the comments start buzzing.

『Poor Sora lol』

『So cute haha』

『Who was that just now?』

“Wait! Why is there someone here… Who are you? This is my target, you know!” (?)

『Who is that?』

『Oh, that person…!』

『Ah!!』

『That’s the adventurer the other deep level adventurers have been talking about, one of the 5-fingers of the next generation… Isn’t that Shogun!?』

『That’s the adventurer who has been diving into the deep levels for over a month without resurfacing!』

『Whoaaaa!』

『A serious deep level enthusiast…!』

“Is that the curse miasma of the Mikage clan…?” (Sora)

A red and black light envelops her.

Curse miasma is the power that steals strength from youkai and demons, used to sustain one’s own life.

Though different from an onmyoji, the essence of exorcising monsters is the same.

She is significantly stronger than ordinary humans and youkais, with her distinctive red hair.

Curse miasma is essentially the power of curses. Cursed by the gods, they take advantage of that power to exorcise monsters.

However, due to the nature of the curse, their lifespans are very short, ranging from 10 to 25 years.

“───!! Who are you? How do you know about the Mikage clan?” (Red-haired girl)

“Why, you ask…” (Sora)

I am reminded of the Heian period.

A certain man came to visit me.

He got down on his knees and made a request.

“You are recognized as the strongest onmyoji of this generation…! Please, grant me one wish! I beg you… please lift the curse of our clan’s short lifespan!” (A certain man)

“That curse is quite powerful. It’s a divine curse.” (Sora)

“My daughter… The curse afflicting my newborn daughter is severe, and at this rate, she won’t last more than a few years…! Our Mikage clan will serve you for a lifetime…! So please, I beg of you, please grant my request…!” (A certain man)

If the curse removal fails, the curse will backfire upon the one attempting to lift it.

No one wants to take on such a task, nor do they dare to get involved even if they come across it.

The more powerful the curse, the higher the price that is demanded in return.

“The curse of a god, huh…” (Sora)

As I reflect on it, I realize I was being reckless. A curse from a god is far more dangerous than just facing death if the attempt fails.

“It sounds interesting. Sure, I’ll do it.” (Sora)

“Still, it’s impossible… Huh?” (A certain man)

Meanwhile, influenced by Sora, the topic of onmyoji was being discussed on TV.

“When it comes to onmyoji, Abe no Seimei1, who was active during the Heian period, is well-known.”

A text overlay appears on the screen, displaying “The Diary of Abe no Seimei.”

“There has been an exciting incident for onmyoji researchers recently! It turns out that the diary of Abe no Seimei has been discovered!” (News reporter 1)

“Oh my! That’s amazing!” (News reporter 2)

“Yes, we can’t disclose everything, but we can show part of it which has been analysed.” (Professor)

The studio staff members smile wryly as they are shown some ancient writings.

“Professor, what does it say here?” (News reporter 1)

“Well, let me first provide a modern translation.” (Professor)

In the tense and excited atmosphere, the first line was uttered.

“『There is an extraordinary onmyoji who can lift the curse of the gods.』” (Professor)

The curse of the gods.

Not fully understanding the magnitude of this information, they tilt their heads in confusion.

Because they didn’t know, they decided to research and contemplate. That was their job.

Continuing with the content:

“『I shall now record my thoughts about this onmyoji.』” (Professor)

──── Abe no Seimei

TL notes:

Thanks for reading!

I am assuming that red haired person is a girl since she use watashi. Also Sora is a literal walking legend lol.

By the time you read this, I already finished the presentation, soo should have more time to translate. I have like a 50 page report in like 2 weeks, but most of it is images so I should still have time to translate.

Footnote:

  1. Abe no Seimei is a leading specialist of Onmyōdō during the middle of the Heian period in Japan. In addition to his prominence in history, he is a legendary figure in Japanese folklore. He has been portrayed in several stories and films. The Seimei Shrine, located in Kyoto, is a famous shrine dedicated to him.

ROS – Chapter 19.1 – Collaboration Stream

“Hello~ Sora desu~” (Sora)

『Sora has arrived!』

『Sora~!!』

『Our Sora!』

『We have been waiting for you!』

『It’s a dungeon~!!』

『Ohhhhh!』

“Today, I am streaming from the deep levels~” (Sora)

Then, the comments stop.

『….Eh?』

『No way, really…?』

『This person is serious!』

『Yabbai!』

『He casually said something outrageous…!』

『I’m pretty sure there are only five people at Sora’s age who can dive into the deep levels!』

“Well, you see. Katsu-san and I came up with the idea to do a collaboration stream… I hunt the monsters while Katsu-san cooks them, that’s the plan.” (Sora)

『Yabbai! LOLLLL』

『Huh? Eh? I can’t keep up… what?』

『Eating… monsters…?』

『Is Mr.Heian crazy in the head?』

『De-Deep levels…?』

“Yes! It seems that monsters are more delicious in the deep levels!” (Sora)

『That’s insane, I love it!』

『This is the best lol』

『The first time I have seen someone dive into the deep levels just for the sake of delicious food…』

『What about the Valsark and the others!?』

“If you are talking about Valsark and Gravito, they are right here! Alright, introduce yourself!” (Sora)

“H-Hello, esteemed viewers! I am Val!” (Valsark)

『Wow~!』

『Val! Val!』

『It’s the loyal dog, Val lol』

It’s Gravito’s turn this time, but the person in question is displaying a sulky attitude.

“…Tch.” (Gravito)

The camera focuses on him.

『…!?』

『!?!?』

『Wha?!?』

『Gravito!? That is Gravito, right!?』

『EHHHH?!?』

The comments start to get heated.

Of course, it’s understandable. That is because Gravito’s appearance is completely different.

He is not the bearded statue anymore.

“It’s me, but what’s the matter?” (Gravito)

『Why… have you transformed into a tanuki1?』

『He even has a tail LOL』

『You look like a stuffed animal…』

『What’s going on?』

He stands on two legs and crosses his arms with his short hands.

“Well, you see, the thing is, Gravito’s body was quite worn out, and there was an accident that caused his beard to be broken.” (Sora)

『He is not mentioning the culprit LOL』

It should be ‘to be broken by me’ instead!2

『You’re the one who broke it!』

『lol』

“I tried to repair it, but the damage was severe… Well, since the body of the statue seemed like it was about to break, I used the Fourth Technique to transfer myself.” (Sora)

The Fourth Technique, in simple terms, involves manipulating the soul.

In this case, Gravito’s soul was transferred from the statue to another object.

『So, why did you choose to become a stuffed tanuki…?』

The reason is a bit embarrassing. I fidget a little before answering.

“Um… I was really moved after watching ‘Pom Poko’3…” (Sora)

『LOLLLLL』

『LMAO』

『HAHAHAH』

『Sorry, I couldn’t help but laugh lmao』

『Why are you embarrassed LOL』

“A tanuki stuffed animal isn’t cute at all! What happened to my magnificent beard!?” (Gravito)

“Is that so? Is it not cute? Hey, Val.” (Sora)

“Yes! It’s cute!” (Valsark)

“See, it’s cute!” (Sora)

“Ughhh! I can’t take it anymore! Where did I go wrong…!” (Gravito)

『I really like their atmosphere lol』

Suddenly, I noticed that the number of viewers has increased.

It seems unusually high today… Usually, even when it starts, only tens of thousands of people…

Even so, it’s still quite impressive…

Well, it can’t be helped. Tanukis are cute after all.

In the past, there were yokais called “bake-danuki”4 that could shapeshift… Those guys were cute.

If you bring them sake, it would be accepted regardless of friend or foe. But once they got drunk, they would be defeated… It’s really pitiful.

And they were also bad at hiding, unable to conceal their tails and shaking them around in the grass. It was quite adorable.

I wonder how they are doing now?

“Alright, I will transition to Katsu’s stream for now. When I find the target monster I will change back~ Let’s go~” (Sora)

With Gravito perched on my head in his tanuki form, we started walking.

『lol』

『I want to make a tsukkomi, but… Roger!』

『Next is Katsu’s PoV!』

『Katsu is a good guy, so I’m looking forward to seeing how he holds the stage.』

『Speaking of which, it’s his first stream, isn’t it?』

『I heard Katsu’s favorite food is Katsudon5 lol』

The scene changes.

It’s a wide open space, resembling a park.

“Oh, are you streaming now? Yahoo~ It’s amazing that Sora-kun’s girlfriend can make drones.” (?)

“No, Miho-san… Sakuya-san is not his girlfriend…” (Katsu)

“Eh?! Really?! Hmm, maybe I misunderstood then.” (Miho)

The Japanese diva Anzai Miho was there.

『Whaaa?!』

『asdjoifjsofj!!』

『Why is Anzai Miho here?!』

『I thought it was Katsu, so I wasn’t prepared at all!!』

『Amazinggggg!!』

Ah, I forgot.

“Oh, I forgot to mention. Today, we have Miho-san as a guest.” (Sora)

『Say it beforehand!!』

『Say it earlier!』

『This guy forgot about a huge celebrity!』

『Don’t casually bring out Japan’s top diva!』

『lol』

『Normally, one wouldn’t forget such things LOL』

“Ahahah~! Sora-kun is really funny. He even asked me, ‘Who are you?’ and it surprised me a bit.” (Miho)

『Sora is seriously stuck in the Heian period.』

『Heian maniac.』

『His head is really in the Heian era.』

『He is our Soramame kid after all.』

『I like an idiot Soramame!』

『His character is consistent…』

“Is that so? From my perspective, I think he is probably being genuine… Today, I thought since we are all here, I would like to try this ‘monster cuisine’ too. Right, Katsu-kun?” (Miho)

“Miho-san has always been someone who acts before she thinks, hasn’t she?” (Katsu)

“I wanted to express my gratitude directly~ I owe him a great debt, it’s only right to repay my benefactor.” (Miho)

『I believe that Anzai Miho has never been a guest on a stream before…』

『Is this her first time?!』

『Seriously?!』

『It’s amazing that Sora is the first one to have her as a guest…』

『As expected of Sora.』

『Her normal performance fee is somewhere around like ten million yen…』

『Wow… Being the top diva is amazing.』

“I will be judging the taste with Katsu-kun! Yoroshiku ne6, Katsu-kun.” (Miho)

“Yeah, yeah.” (Katsu)

『Katsu seems used to it lol』

『They must have had already interacted for a while.』

『Katsu seems like the kind who is easily persuaded.』

『If you ask him for something, he will probably do various things for you. He’s a good guy.』

『He’s a pushover uncle.』

『lol』

“Haah… Sora-kun, how is it over there?” (Katsu)

“Huh? On my side?” (Sora)

The camera changes, showing the deep levels.

“Well, I haven’t found anything yet.” (Sora)

『Wow!』

『A pile of dead bodies LOL』

『Crazy lol』

『The screen has only switched for a few minutes, but there are already a pile of corpses lmao』

『This is awesome LOLL!』

『Sora seems so calm even in the deep levels lol.』

『He’s definitely the strongest in the modern era.』

『I wonder what he is looking for…』

TL notes:

Thanks for reading!

I did not expect Miho to show up at all lol.

Btw the reason I split this into parts is because I have a school presentation on some network attack thing in like tmr but my vm decided to not work. I am now rushing to finish it, soo I don’t have that much time until then. And I still haven’t finish Amairo Chocolate 2 🙁

Footnote:

  1. Tanuki = Japanese raccoon dog
  2. The line requires some jap knowledge which I don’t possess lol. Here is the raw ”折れた←× 折った←〇”.
  3. Real movie which I never watched. It has something to do with tanukis having their habitat destroyed by human deforestation and whatnot
  4. Real legend
  5. Katsudon = Japanese Pork Cutlet Rice Bowl, also they are joking about how it’s Katsu(don)
  6. Yoroshiku ne = Nice to meet you/Let’s get along. I left it in as it sounds more natural if you know the word.

ROS – Chapter 18 – Coworker

Inside the truck transporting streaming equipment.

Social media was abuzz with talk about the new Dungeon Streaming Agency “Onmyou”.

Sakuya looked at her smartphone with a wide smile and nodded in approval.

“The operation was a great success. Thanks for all the help, Katsu-san.” (Sakuya)

“Oh no, I should be the one apologizing. In the news, it’s being portrayed as if I’m the one who helped people… I thought my heart was going to jump out of my chest. Hahaha…” (Katsu)

I tilted my head in confusion. I found those words to be strange.

“I’m sure everyone was helped because of you, Katsu-san.” (Sora)

“From anyone’s perspective, it was thanks to Sora-kun. I shouldn’t take credit for the achievements of a promising young person like him.” (Katsu)

“I believe that everyone was saved because you were there, Katsu-san.” (Sora)

In fact, it’s that thanks to Katsu-san, there were no injuries among the civilians before I arrived.

Without him, I can’t imagine what would have happened.

Katsu scratched his cheek and blushed slightly.

I simply unleashed magic through cursed power.

It was like gently extending a hand without involving people.

“…Sora-kun, I fell in love with you for saying such things.” (Katsu)

Sakuya’s eyes narrowed.

“Fell in love…?” (Sakuya)

“N-No, don’t misunderstand! It’s not like that… I meant that you look dazzling.” (Katsu)

Katsu dropped his gaze.

I was really happy when Katsu-san became a coworker.

He has both the skill to delve into the depths and the charisma, and he is always the first to step up to protect others.

He is a very kind person.

He is also close to the image of the onmyoji that I aspire to.

“Since I was young, I have been alone… I wanted to enjoy my youth for once. I never thought it would become a complex for me hahaha.” (Katsu)

He chuckles with a wry smile.

“To cure my sister’s illness, I needed a large sum of money. So, I dropped out of high school and became a dungeon adventurer trying to earn money.” (Katsu)

For Katsu, there were no fleeting youth days during his school years.

He needed money to treat his sister’s serious illness. He considered himself a tool to earn that money.

That’s why he couldn’t die.

With single-minded determination, Katsu continued to delve deeper and deeper into the dungeons, honing his skills to the point where he could reach the depths.

That was the story of Sakakibara Katsu.

“Well, if I had a proper youth… I might have been like you guys, I guess. That’s why I wanted to cooperate. It looks fun just watching,” (Katsu)

He gave a gentle and tired smile.

Sakuya fell silent.

I knew the smile that Katsu just gave.

It’s the expression he wears when he is suppressing his true desires and resigning himself, saying, “This is fine.”

“Let’s do it!” (Sora)

“Huh?” (Katsu)

“Let’s have our youth! Katsu-san!” (Sora)

“What? What do you mean?” (Katsu)

I grabbed Katsu-san’s hands and looked into his eyes with determination.

If there’s something you still want to do, then go for it.

“Age doesn’t matter when it comes to doing what you want!” (Sora)

As adults, it’s natural to become hesitant about taking on new challenges as we grow older.

But that is inevitable.

It’s because we have responsibilities.

If I were to take on a challenge and fail, I might end up losing my job or impact my family negatively.

Adults always carry responsibilities.

The more precious things you have, the more risker it is.

Before becoming an adult, Katsu risked his life and devoted his life to saving his sister.

There’s no one as cool as Katsu.

“Sora, you’re truly… never mind. I understand. Alright, I’ll give youth a try.” (Katsu)

“Yes!” (Sora)

“My goal is to experience youth… It’s embarrassing.” (Katsu)

Katsu appears to be blushing, but there is a genuine smile on his face. It’s not a forced smile, but one that seems truly joyful.

He looks incredibly happy.

“So, Sakuya. What do you do for youth?” (Sora)

“M-Me? You’re asking me!?” (Sakuya)

“Well, Sakuya seems to know everything.” (Sora)

“Um… well, maybe having a meal in a place with a view of the city lights… or something like that?” (Sakuya)

Naruhodo~1” (Sora)

Sakuya truly lives up to expectations. She knows common things that I don’t.

As I nod deeply, I notice Katsu’s cheek twitching.

“Oh, well… I think that’s not quite right. When it comes to youth, it’s more about hanging out and chatting at a family restaurant or playing games at an arcade, isn’t it?” (Katsu)

“Is that so?! I have never been to a family restaurant or an arcade.” (Sakuya)

“Me neither!” (Sora)

I raised my hand as I said that.

I heard of them before, but I have never been there.

Students often go to places like that.

“Hey, hey… Are you two really okay? That’s kinda amazing in a way… this Uncle is starting to worry…” (Katsu)

Huh? Why does Katsu-san have such a worried look on his face?

To be honest, even if people talk about “youth”, I don’t really understand it.

Well, in school, I was a loner, and Sakuya is also often a loner.

Huh? Could it be that we don’t know what a proper youth is…?

No way, that can’t be.

Don’t worry, I do know about youth in the Heian period.

Things like playing kemari or tag… See, those are youth-like activities.

Oh… In the modern era, nobody would do those things with me, and I would end up crying alone… Oh, I feel like I’m remembering something.

Suddenly, some non-existent memories are being triggered.

In that memory, while I was sitting in the gymnasium and crying, someone threw a soybean at me.

(“Yaaay, Heian era folks!”)

(“Go back to the Heian period!”)

(“Idiot!”)

Okay. Let’s stop dwelling on those fake memories.

There was no youth.

“Sora-kun, why are you suddenly feeling sad…” (Katsu)

“There was no youth…” (Sora)

“Sora-kun!? Are you hurting yourself!?” (Katsu)

Sakuya clears her throat with a deliberate cough.

It seems that this topic is also causing distress to Sakuya, as she seems to want to avoid it.

It seems like we carry deep scars from our youth…

“Forget about youth for now… Let’s talk about the dungeon streaming! Sora!” (Sakuya)

“Y-Yeah, Sakuya! Let’s do that!” (Sora)

“I’m worried… this Uncle is really worried…” (Katsu)

Ignoring Katsu, who is visibly worried and holding his head, Sakuya takes out a whiteboard.

“First of all…” (Sakuya)

On the whiteboard, there are numerous data points. It is evident that Sakuya has pulled an all-nighter to gather, organize, and come up with improvement ideas for the data.

According to Sakuya, it seems that a large portion of my viewers are younger audiences.

On the other hand, with Katsu joining the agency, it is expected that we can attract older demographics that were previously difficult to reach.

Furthermore, since Katsu primarily operates during the daytime, it perfectly aligns with Sakuya’s plan to do evening streams with me, since we still have to attend school.

This way, we can avoid competing for viewership.

“So, Katsu-san, I want to know what you’re good at.” (Sakuya)

“I specialize in being a front-line shield user. As for my talents, I’m pretty skilled in cooking~ I thought it would be great to showcase things like ‘dungeon meals’ during our streams. For example, meat dishes and such.” (Katsu)

“I see… There’s definitely a significant demand for that.” (Sakuya)

Sakuya shows a troubled expression.

During this time… I don’t really have anything to do.

In other words, I’m free.

I sit in seiza position, waiting idly for the conversation to come to an end.

Hmm, what should I have for dinner today?

Just then, Katsu-san interjects.

“Um, Sakuya-san… I actually don’t know what Sora-kun is good at. It might not be good for us as teammates if I don’t know each other’s strengths.” (Katsu)

“Oh, right. Sora, why don’t you tell him?” (Sakuya)

Sakuya doesn’t even glance up and remains focused on the monitor.

I respond.

“Enemies, defeat. Allies, increase.” (Sora)

Sakuya seemed satisfied and continued.

“Alright, just as usual. Now, onto the next topic…” (Sakuya)

“W-Wait. Is that all!?” (Katsu)

Katsu said with a surprised expression.

“Hey, Sora’s presence alone is entertaining.” (Sakuya)

“Well, yeah, but he can do more than just that, right?! And you were looking at him like some kind of unfortunate soul?!” (Katsu)

“This is how things are. Today, having Katsu-san here makes it feel less one-sided, and that’s really nice.” (Sakuya)

Sakuya appeared somewhat satisfied.

I’m actually listening to the conversation attentively~ but sometimes the discussions become too complicated and I tend to lose track midway.

“Is it always like this…? That’s kind of amazing in a way…” (Katsu)

“Don’t worry, Katsu-san. You will get used to it eventually.” (Sora)

“For Sora-kun to say that…” (Katsu)

But it’s truly a good thing that more people have joined.

It was fun being just Sakuya and me, but now it’s become livelier.

“Do you have any ideas, Sora?” (Sakuya)

“Hmm… hmm…” (Sora)

Katsu-san mentioned being skilled in cooking, and I have never had dungeon cuisine before.

I’m quite interested in trying it, but I don’t think Sakuya would be satisfied with just that.

“Cooking monsters, perhaps?” (Sora)

“Huh?! W-Well, dungeon cuisine doesn’t exactly mean that…” (Katsu)

“But it sounds interesting, doesn’t it?” (Sora)

“You really do come up with the most unexpected things… Sora-kun.” (Katsu)

It couldn’t be helped. This was the first idea that came to my mind.

All that’s left is to take action and if it doesn’t work out, we can reflect on it.

“Sakuya, how about monster cuisine?” (Sora)

“Fufufu… That sounds interesting. I think it’s a great idea!” (Sakuya)

“Alright, it’s decided. How about… this location?” (Sora)

I point my index finger downwards.

“The lower levels? Well, if it’s monsters around that level…” (Katsu)

“No, even deeper.” (Sora)

There is a brief pause as both of them react.

“…Huh!?” (Sakuya)

“Eating monsters from the deeper levels!? Is that what you’re suggesting!?” (Katsu)

“Well, you see, Gravito says that the deeper the monster, the stronger and tastier it is.” (Sora)

If we’re going to do it, let’s go all out… No compromises.

Let’s delve deeper.

TL notes:

Thanks for reading!

Next stream: “Dungeon Exploration BUT every monster I defeat gets added to my Hotpot”

… Is what I predict the next stream is going to be named lol. Honestly, that would be something I would watch. Can’t wait to see Sora invent some new food or something.

Edit: No post for the next 3 days, Amario Chocolate 2 just came out so I gotta go play that. I have been waiting for a Ichika and Nana route for so long.

  1. Naruhodo = I see

ROS – Chapter 17 – Onmyou

I received permission to stream in the evening at a place that offers an extensive view of the nearby town.

I needed a spacious place today but my room is small.

“Good evening~ I’m Sora~” (Sora)

『I have been waiting for this!!』

『Finally, you’re here!』

『I wonder what he will do today…!』

『Where are you? It looks like a place with a wide view of a town. Where is that?』

『Your face looks so squishy lol.』

『Whenever Sora starts streaming, his so calm and his face always looks ‘moonya’ or ‘funya’.』

『Cute.』

『I love it.』

I wonder if I really look that squishy…

But I’m not good at those loud, energetic greetings.

For some reason, I have a habit of feeling relaxed when I greet people.

“Today, well… I will be introducing a new companion.” (Sora)

『A new companion…?』

『Wait, did you actually catch a shikigami off-stream!?』

『Such a thing!?』

“No, it’s not a shikigami or anything like that… come in.” (Sora)

I urged him to come forward.

With nervous steps, he stood next to me.

“U-Um, nice to meet you…! I’m Sakakibara Katsu!” (Katsu)

『Huh?!』

『No way, it’s Katsu!?』

『He is there!?』

『Wasn’t he Sora’s rival?!』

“I-I’m nervous, Sora-kun…” (Katsu)

“I understand. Right now, we have a total of 130,000 viewers.” (Sora)

“Wha…! There are 130,000 people?! And they are all Sora-kun’s fans, right!?” (Katsu)

“Yes! They are all wonderful people!” (Sora)

『Naturally lol.』

『Is this ok? Sora, are you not being deceived?』

『I am starting to get worried.』

『When someone says ‘they’re good people,’ I strangely feel a sense of guilt…』

“With this, the company will become even livelier~” (Sora)

『…Huh?』

『Huh? What did you just say?』

『Did I mishear?』

『Yes?』

“Huh… Ah, did I not say it? Actually, Sakuya and I, along with Katsu-san, started our own agency. We named it ‘Onmyou.'” (Sora)

Sakuya and I thought of the name together.

Since minors cannot start a business, we are using Katsu-san’s name for the official registration.

When we consulted with Katsu-san, he warmly accepted the company’s philosophy and said, “I’m on board!”

The comments fall silent.

“Huh? Did the comments stop?” (Sora)

“No, I think…” (Katsu)

Just as Katsu was about to respond, a flurry of comments suddenly floods in.

『Wowwwww!』

『Whoaaaaaaa!』

『Whaaaaaaat!?』

『Whoaaa!』

『No way!!』

『Even though he is so young, that’s amazing!』

『Sora joining an agency… It’s moving.』

『Congratulations!』

Streamers who join an agency are generally congratulated.

After all, it’s because the scale of their activities tends to become larger and they gain more colleagues.

『What is the aim of the agency?』

Yes, that’s important.

After researching, I found out that Poover, which manages many famous streamers, has a philosophy of shining brightly, being popular, and always staying at the top.

“Our agency’s aim is… ‘Dungeon Streamers who help people in need.'”

I bow my head quietly.

The comments fall silent as if waiting for my words.

Katsu-san is also waiting for my response.

“I heard that there were many streamers who couldn’t help out at Anzai Miho-san’s live performance. Of course, I don’t blame them or get angry about it.” (Sora)

They are risking their lives. They can’t be blamed.

“But you know… if, in such a situation, no one actually comes to the rescue…” (Sora)

I can’t help but feel saddened by that thought.

Throughout history, people have always lived by helping one another.

Though that sense may have faded in modern times… I don’t want to lose it.

When someone is in trouble…

“It would be nice if there were always someone who would come to help in those times…” (Sora)

Onmyojis exist to save people.

That is a shared consciousness that has continued from ancient times to the present, starting from the Heian period.

That’s why they are depicted as the defenders of justice in any era.

I don’t want to deviate from that.

That is what the company is about desu!1” (Sora)

I lift my head up straight and smile.

Ookami Rika, who was watching Sora’s stream at Poover, involuntarily widened her eyes.

『Dungeon Streamer who helps people in need.』

Sora-san, how far will you go…?

“He announced it at this timing… So the rumors were true.” (Rika)

“I’m looking forward to it! After all, he is going to grow even more from now on, right?” (Manager)

The manager, who doesn’t seem to grasp the gravity of the situation, is taking it lightly.

“You’re being too carefree… But honestly, there’s no way Sora-san would come up with something like this on his own.” (Rika)

I cover my mouth, deep in thought.

There must be someone behind the scenes orchestrating all of this.

In my mind, a silver-haired girl appeared.

…Undoubtedly, it’s that silver-haired daughter.

The biggest and most influential streaming agency in Japan is Poover? No, that’s not it.

Now… it’s “Onmyou”.

That’s what has been determined here.

Public vs Internet?

Who made the bigger impact? Who saved people? No, that girl never even considered such things from the beginning.

She intended to have both of them on her side.

Katsu, the most popular among the public.

Sora, the hottest on the internet.

With these two in the picture… they have instantly elevated their position from the bottom to the very top.

That girl… is an incredible strategist.

Truly befitting the daughter of a major dungeon networking corporation who received exceptional education.

She is worthy of being called a genius…

But it’s also thanks to Sora-san that she was able to achieve that…!

That’s why the synergy between those two… is unbeatable.

“At this rate, Poover… will have to relinquish their top position, won’t they?” (Rika)

Sora-san… you truly are an amazing person.

From that moment of saving me, you climbed up to the top with just a few steps.

Not only that, but you saved me twice. I am grateful, and I want to properly convey these feelings to you.

But more than that…

“I don’t want to lose to Onmyou.” (Rika)

The talented streamers affiliated with Poover were sitting cross-legged, their cheeks twitching.

“Hey, hey, hey, isn’t Poover in trouble? They’re about to be dethroned from the top spot. I can understand Katsu, but being defeated by those kids? Unbelievable!” (Streamer)

Many streamers are watching the stream.

Even that Bean streamer was watching with his fingers in his mouth.

“I still want to collaborate with my Beanmate after all…” (Bean streamer)

Kamisaki Sakuya was delighted to have fulfilled Sora’s wish with her own hands for the first time.

To spread the concept of a true onmyoji, which is Sora’s goal.

She was able to become a source of support for Sora.

“With this, both Poover and other agencies will feel the momentum shift… and Sora will be at the center stage!” (Sakuya)

My Sora is receiving attention.

No one could have predicted such a turn of events.

Rather than creating conflicts, they joined hands.

Instead of determining what is right or wrong, they get the best of both sides.

This was the day when the dungeon streaming agency, Onmyou, was established.

And then, Sakuya’s smartphone rang.

TL notes:

Thanks for reading!

So instead of fighting over who contributed more, just use the momentum to tackle the core problem of needing to save people and get the best of both sides. Not only does this avert the drama, but it’s also a quick boost to the company’s reputation since the drama is the mainstream topic. That phone call at the end, do I hear investors making their move? Well probably not, but I will be impressed if the author went down that path.

Btw title for this chapter is 陰陽(おんみょう) which is suppose to be the company name I think. I don’t know if I translated it correctly, cause Onmyou might sound weird for a company name idk.

Footnote:

  1. Raw is “そんなダンジョン配信者がいる……陰陽です!”. The sentence didn’t make sense to me, so I just changed it to have it make sense.

ROS – Chapter 16 – Bulletin Board / Sora’s Live Stream

[Thread: Vol. 562 – Discussing Dungeon Streamer Ueno Sora]

108. Anonymous Onmyoji
Man, Sora is amazing.

How has no one heard of him before?

109. Anonymous Onmyoji
No matter how many times I watch it, Sora’s live stream was exciting

It’s amazing!

110. Anonymous Onmyoji
That damn Sakakibara Katsu was reported to have had the most success.

That old bastard…

It’s him again.

111. Anonymous Onmyoji
That guy has been making mocking remarks to other dungeon streamers as well.

Sora worked incredibly hard and was the first one to rush in, and yet, he treats him like this.

He’s the worst.

112. Anonymous Onmyoji
I’m seriously pissed off this time.

I’m going to make a complaint call.

113. Anonymous Onmyoji
That old man sure has a knack for getting on people’s nerves.

I absolutely won’t forgive him this time.

114. Anonymous Onmyoji
I don’t know if he holds any authority, but he should stop spreading lies.

Calling Sora a liar is beyond despicable.

Doesn’t he know that other streamers were laughing and saying, “There’s no way I will go”?

And now those streamers are facing backlash.

115. Anonymous Onmyoji
Are you telling me that none of the people involved watched the live stream?

Are they stupid?

I can’t believe it.

116. Anonymous Onmyoji
Honestly, doesn’t it seem a bit unreasonable this time?

It’s clear that Sora had the most significant role.

I do think that Katsu did his best, but no matter how you look at it, Sora’s contribution was extraordinary.

117. Anonymous Onmyoji
>>116
A group of reporters was waiting with their cameras ready when Katsu appeared, accompanied by thousands of people. They misunderstood and thought, “Katsu rescued everyone by himself!”

Every news reporter wanted to be the first to report the news.

From the perspective of the news reporters, they probably think that Katsu was the one who protected and moved everyone, even though Sora is part of the rescue efforts as well.

The other news reporters seem to be observing the situation for now.

It seems like they have noticed that the way the internet is reacting is abnormal.

118. Anonymous Onmyoji
That news was mostly limited to that company… although because of that, the older generation in society believes that Katsu was the one who helped.

By the way, isn’t that Soramame boy angry about this?

If it were an ordinary person, they would definitely be furious, thinking, “They stole my credit!”

119. Anonymous Onmyoji
>>118
If it’s Sora, they would probably say something like, “Oh, really? I didn’t know about that.”

120. Anonymous Onmyoji
>>119
lol

121. Anonymous Onmyoji
>>119
LOL You got the perfect picture of Sora.

122. Anonymous Onmyoji
Yeah, he doesn’t know anything.

He’s from the Heian period, after all.

123. Anonymous Onmyoji
Could it be that Sora needs others to properly acknowledge him for him to be known?

124. Anonymous Onmyoji
That’s possible.

It’s strange because Sora never boasts about his achievements or comes across as arrogant.

So, could it be that the reason he has been overlooked all this time is because of that?

125. Anonymous Onmyoji
And his cute, too.

He might be the type to get excited and say, “I appeared on TV! How amazing!”

The magic he demonstrated during Anzai Miho’s miracle was incredible, although it was quite intense.

126. Anonymous Onmyoji

That was seriously cool.

127. Anonymous Onmyoji
Sora’s atmosphere is completely different.

To think that he had such a side… It touched me a little.

128. Anonymous Onmyoji
So he is not just an idiot.

129. Anonymous Onmyoji
I’m relieved to hear that he’s not just an idiot.

130. Anonymous Onmyoji
It’s disrespectful to call him an idiot just because he has a carefree personality.

Let’s just call him Soramame.

131. Anonymous Onmyoji
Speaking of which, why do we call him “Soramame” in the first place?

I understand calling him an “idiot” but…

132. Anonymous Onmyoji
Because he loves “soramame” (Enamame).

133. Anonymous Onmyoji
Because he loves “soramame” (Enamame).

134. Anonymous Onmyoji
It’s a cute nickname, after all.

135. Anonymous Onmyoji
>>131
How about you become a “Soramame” too?

136. Anonymous Onmyoji
>>131
Become a “Soramame”!

If you don’t become a “Soramame,” you’ll die!

137. Anonymous Onmyoji
This place feels a bit scary…

There are only crazy people here…

138. Anonymous Onmyoji
It seems like it will be either “Idiot” or “Soramame”…

139. Anonymous Onmyoji
Sora saved my younger brother at a live concert venue, so I’ll support them for life.

Thank you, Sora.

That old man…

140. Anonymous Onmyoji
I wonder what Sakakibara Katsu is up to?

He doesn’t seem to be affiliated with any agency. I wonder if he will release a personal statement.

141. Anonymous Onmyoji
>>140
He is keeping silent for now.

I also wonder what he is up to.

Although he is a good person, so I’m sure he will say something soon

142. Anonymous Onmyoji
Well, he is already quite old…

143. Anonymous Onmyoji
Come to think of it, why is he still adventuring at that age?

Don’t people usually retire from that in their 20s?

144. Anonymous Onmyoji
It’s quite unusual, isn’t it?

I wonder if there’s a specific reason behind it.

145. Anonymous Onmyoji
Summary of Sora’s achievements:

First Dungeon Livestream:

  • Solo defeats an irregular boss in the lower dungeon (an enemy of deep-level difficulty).
  • Unexpected transformation of boss into a Shikigami. Birth of the loyal dog, Val.
  • Concurrent viewership surpasses 1 million.

Second Dungeon Livestream:

  • Challenges the trial system in the lower dungeon.
  • Impressive breakthroughs in trials through sheer force and gains a Shikigami of the highest difficulty boss.
  • Second Shikigami, Gravito, is born.
  • Concurrent viewership surpasses 1.5 million.
  • Following the conquest of the dungeon boss, a dungeon incident occurs during Anzai Miho’s live concert.
  • Sora immediately decides to go and help.
  • Single-handedly holds off thousands to tens of thousands of monsters.

I watched that live stream, and it seemed like Sora still had plenty of power left… It was amazing.

146. Anonymous Onmyoji
>>145
Thanks for the summary.

147. Anonymous Onmyoji
Looking at it this way, it’s incredible… All of this in just a few weeks, right?

Even though he is called an idiot or “Soramame,” he is truly amazing.

148. Anonymous Onmyoji
Indeed, that’s our Sora.

149. Anonymous Onmyoji
Yeah, that old man really gets on my nerves.

150. Anonymous Onmyoji
Sora should really say something about it.

151. Anonymous Onmyoji
I don’t think he will stay silent about it.

………

……

535. Anonymous Onmyoji
I guess this concludes this discussion?1

536. Anonymous Onmyoji
I think it’s good.

537. Anonymous Onmyoji
We can never predict what Sora will do…

I’ll try to guess this time.

538. Anonymous Onmyoji
Summary:

Predicting Sora’s next actions:

  1. A fun dungeon livestream with the trio of idiots, the loyal dog, and the bearded one.
  2. Getting angry about the news incident and doing a livestream addressing it.
  3. Accidentally live streaming a special-grade cursed item once again.

539. Anonymous Onmyoji
Hmm, it’s likely to be one of these three.

540. Anonymous Onmyoji
Number 1 would be hilarious.

541. Anonymous Onmyoji
The bearded one, LOL. What’s with that name?

542. Anonymous Onmyoji
Well, it doesn’t seem like there will be anything other than these three options, based on past trends.

543. Anonymous Onmyoji
I’m really looking forward to Sora’s next move.

Currently, it’s being discussed a lot in the news whether it’s Katsu or Sora who made the most contribution.

544. Anonymous Onmyoji
To the general public, it’s all about Katsu.

On the internet, it’s all about Sora.

That’s how it is.

545. Anonymous Onmyoji
Japan is going crazy over these two lol

546. Anonymous Onmyoji
Yeah, Sora and the others managed to save people without any casualties during that major disaster.

It’s seriously amazing.

546. Anonymous Onmyoji
I can’t wait for the next live streammmm!

547. Anonymous Onmyoji
Sora’s live stream is here!!

548. Anonymous Onmyoji
I have been waiting for it in the nude!!

549. Anonymous Onmyoji
It’s here, it’s here, it’s here!!

550. Anonymous Onmyoji
Now, which option will he go with…!

551. Anonymous Onmyoji
What will happen in Sora’s livestream…!

The anticipation for Sora’s next live stream wasn’t limited to just internet users.

Even the manager received a phone call from Ookami Rika, who confidently declared, “The news report is incorrect, so I will come forward to correct it.”

“Here it comes… Sora’s live stream!” (Watanabe)

And there was another person.

It was Watanabe, who had been berating Sora as a police officer, finally able to offer a sincere apology.

She witnessed the battle up close, while protected by the shikigami.

“That was definitely thanks to Sora! Sora, you have every right to be angry! This live stream is about that, right?” (Watanabe)

Everyone speculated and contemplated Sora’s actions, holding their breath in anticipation.

“Good evening~ It’s Sora~” (Sora)

Sora greeted with a soft smile, waving towards the drone.

And then, he began to speak.

“Well, today~…” (Sora)

TL notes:

Thanks for reading

I think for Gravito its suppose to be a beard instead of mustache, so I’ll go with that from now on. Also chances are that Sora will not pick options 1-3. You can never predict what he will do after all lol.

  1. Absolutely no idea what this talking about. Raw is “これで意見まとまった?” if it helps much.

ROS – Chapter 15 – TV vs Internet

A truck containing Sakuya’s streaming equipment.

The back of the truck has been modified to allow viewing drone footage and monitoring streaming conditions.

It is also equipped for overnight stays, truly an expensive truck.

The next day, after rescuing people from Tokyo Bia Dome…

I hurriedly ran to the truck to confirm what I had seen.

“SakuyaSakuyaSakuya!” (Sora)

When I opened the back, there was Sakuya, elegantly sipping tea.

Sitting on a gaming chair, she was engrossed in studying a diagram with numerous graphs.

“What’s the commotion about?” (Sakuya)

“N-News! I’m somehow featured in the news!” (Sora)

I show her the news feed on my smartphone.

“So what? Considering what you’ve done, it’s only natural. It’s not surprising.” (Sakuya)

“I-Is that so…?” (Sora)

I simply helped people in need. I don’t think I did anything particularly amazing.

If someone is in trouble, it’s only natural to help them. It’s the right thing to do.

“But… this news is a masterpiece, isn’t it?” (Sakuya)

And with that, Sakuya shifted her gaze towards the smartphone.

“Sora, you’re going to become even more famous.” (Sakuya)

Sakuya sipped her tea with a pleased expression.

“It’s time for the news. In the live concert of Miho Anzai that took place a few days ago…” (News reporter 1)

The news delved into the detailed account of the disaster.

Initially, the disaster seemed utterly devastating.

However, upon closer inspection, it turned out to be a miraculous disaster where, despite numerous injuries, there were no fatalities.

The 100,000 monsters eventually met their demise through the efforts of numerous forces and adventurers who rushed to the deepest parts of the dungeon. The dungeon finally calmed down after a while.

In the news, the event had started to be referred to as the “Miracle of Anzai Miho, The Japanese Diva.”

“There were adventurers who played a vital role at the live venue… as well as streamers who came to support. It seems like there were such individuals, according to reports.” (News reporter 2)

The news continues, highlighting the achievements of the adventurers who played an active role.

In this way, they are being recognized and gratitude is being expressed.

Of course, there is no blame or criticism to those who didn’t come to help.

Adventurers always put their lives on the line. It would be cruel to blame them for not coming.

“… adventurers like […] and […] are truly amazing.” (News reporter 1)

“By the way, the adventurer who is said to have been the first to arrive… um, was it a dungeon streamer?” (News reporter 2)

“Yes. According to the rumors, it seems to be a person called Ueno Sora, who is currently a hot topic on the internet!” (News reporter 1)

An elderly and outspoken critic, who had remained silent until now, furrowed his brows the moment Sora’s name was mentioned.

In an eloquent tone, he began to speak as if they were already aware of the matter.

“I still can’t believe it, you know. He’s just a high school student, right? And to call himself an onmyoji… Isn’t he just a fraud? A liar, perhaps. I mean, he only showed up at the scene, didn’t actually do anything. Hahaha!” (Elder critic)

“Ah, haha… Well, um… he was the first one to take action, so…” (News reporter 1)

“Anyone can just show up and move around, can’t they? I don’t know much about streaming or the internet, but my eyes can’t be deceived.” (Elder critic)

In the gloomy atmosphere, the smug-faced critic sniffed dismissively.

“And now, let me introduce the adventurer who made the most significant contribution, the one who can be called the MVP for rescuing thousands of people… Sakakibara Katsu!” (Elder critic)

“He truly had the most remarkable performance this time!” (Elder critic)

“To protect and evacuate thousands of people from tens of thousands of monsters… It’s only natural! It’s a divine feat!” (Elder critic)

“When everyone safely came out of the live venue, led by Sakakibara Katsu, it was truly exhilarating!” (Elder critic)

“The public’s voice is also filled with praise for Katsu.” (Elder critic)

“And not to mention, Ookami Rika from the Poover agency also played a significant role…” (Elder critic)

For ordinary people, the more they like Sora, the more discomfort they would feel towards this news.

Because the one who made the most significant contribution is not Sakakibara Katsu.

It’s Ueno Sora.

Ookami Rika, who was watching the news during her lunch break, was astonished.

“Ehh?! W-Where are they reporting this news…!?” (Rika)

(Thanks to him we were able to overcome that desperate situation without any fatalities…!)

Rika takes out her smartphone and makes a call.

“Manager!” (Rika)

Just like Ookami Rika, there was also a commotion online.

People were questioning the accuracy of the news, suspecting that it might be misleading or incorrect.

Ueno Sora is the real deal.

That fact is known by the 2 million people who witnessed it live on the internet.

Furthermore, being accused of being a fraud and other derogatory remarks, there is no way they can stay silent.

However, Sakuya was laughing.

“Well, things have gotten interesting.” (Sakuya)

“I’m nervous…” (Sora)

Never did I imagine that I would be in the news…

Television is such a common part of our daily lives that when we hear someone we know saying, “I appeared on TV for a brief moment!” we naturally think, “Wow, that’s amazing!”

I got even more excited when I’m experiencing this for the first time.

Yoshi, I’ll brag about it to someone.

First, I went to Sakuya… but as I try to speak, she responded in a dispassionate manner.

“Don’t brag to me about appearing on TV. I make appearances too, you know.” (Sakuya)

“Wow!” (Sora)

“Because my old man’s speeches are sometimes aired on TV. And I happen to appear in them for a split second.” (Sakuya)

“S-Sakuya, that’s amazing…” (Sora)

“It’s nothing special, really. But you’re still cute, as always.” (Sakuya)

Sakuya smiled and rested her chin on her hand.

“Well, it’s clear now. The news and public opinion is completely different from the views on the internet.” (Sakuya)

The news is controlled by large corporations, not individuals. The content of the news can be manipulated when pressure is exerted from the higher-ups.

On the other hand, the internet allows individuals to post and gather information. Due to this nature, facts are less likely to be manipulated.

The world we live in is no longer an era where television dictates everything as black or white.

“Basically, the upper management of big corporations consists of stubborn old geezers. They cling to old customs and lack flexibility. Ueno Sora, who recently emerged is relatively unknown. It’s understandable to put someone like the moderately famous Sakakibara Katsu at the forefront.” (Sakuya)

“Well, this is not going to end normally though.” (Sakuya)

“Thanks to those old folks, Japan will be flooded with discussions about you… It’s going to be entertaining.” (Sakuya)

As predicted by Sakuya, there was a conflict arising from the news reporting that Sakakibara Katsu had played the most significant role, while the internet claimed that Ueno Sora had been the most active.

“I think it’s about time for me to make a move too.” (Sakuya)

Sakuya wears a sinister smile and “fufufufu”ed.

“She is like an evil schemer…” (Sora)

TL notes:

Thanks for reading!

Sakuya has a gaming chair lol. She is fully prepared to start a war and looks like this is gonna be the perfect opportunity to start everything off.

Thank god that short chapters can still exist.

ROS – Chapter 14 – Tokyo Bia Dome

The last live performance in Japan took place at the Tokyo Bia Dome.

In that concert featuring Anzai Miho, there were tens of thousands of people present.

Amidst that, the sudden appearance of a dungeon caused a nationwide commotion.

Other dungeon streamers and adventurers are contacted, and the government sends a notification requesting those who can come to hurry to their aid but…

– Other dungeon streamers –

“What? A dungeon appeared at Miho Anzai’s concert…!? And there are thousands of monsters…!?” (Streamer)

『Oh well… Personally, I wouldn’t risk my life to help someone else.』

『Going to help them would be foolish LOL』

『I heard the venue is in complete chaos. LOL.』

『What a coward.』

『Just go and help, damn it.』

“Well, I guess it’s not possible for me. To all my viewers, I will be taking on goblins from now on…” (Streamer)

Similarly, other streamers follow suit.

“I got scared when the alarm went off during the live concert. An incident during Miho Anzai’s concert… I’m a huge fan, but what should I do?” (Streamer)

『I believe Anzai Miho is being properly protected by her bodyguards.』

『Miho Anzai is definitely still alive, right?』

『It’s hard to imagine a celebrity dying.』

『She’s a famous singer, after all.』

“Yeah, you’re right. So, it’s the ordinary people who are affected. In that case, I won’t go.” (Streamer)

『That’s the right decision.』

『It’s fine. Prioritize yourself.』

『No other choice.』

『It seems like no one is going to help them, huh.』

………

……

“No way I’m going to help!” (Streamer)

『Don’t say that with a smirk. LOL.』

『Inappropriate streamers are indeed different.』

“Wait a minute. If I can capture footage of the accident scene, it might go viral!”

『The lowest LOL』

『What a scumbag.』

『The level of decency here is gone…』

『Are you new here? Relax and take it easy.』

『Sora’s stream was amazing though…』

“Hey, can you please refrain from mentioning other streamers’ names? Seriously, it’s not cool.” (Streamer)

Meanwhile, there was a state of chaos at the Dungeon Management Center that sent out the notification.

“We don’t have enough people…!” (Director)

On the monitors in the control center, Anzai Miho’s live concert venue was dyed in a deep red color.

It was filled with hordes of monsters.

It was impossible to detect a dungeon’s appearance until just before it occurred.

In other words, it was similar to earthquakes.

While it could be predicted shortly before their arrival, it was impossible to determine when and where they would occur days in advance.

The reported and confirmed number of monsters exceeded several thousand.

From the upper floors to the middle and lower levels… There might even be monsters in the deeper levels.

Nevertheless, the Dungeon Management Center was not giving up.

They were determined to face the situation head-on.

Among the attendees at the live concert venue were experienced adventurers who had been invited by Anzai Miho, as well as members like Rika Ookami, who had recently started challenging the lower levels.

They would do their best to protect the civilians.

However, their efforts wouldn’t last long. They were just ordinary people. It wouldn’t take long for them to reach their limits when facing over a thousand monsters.

“Director… um…” (Researcher)

“What is it? Can’t you see I’m busy?” (Director)

A researcher wearing glasses approaches with a hesitant demeanor, holding some documents.

“Well, regarding the initial report on the number of monsters… ” (Researcher)

“It was in the thousands, right?! I have already heard it and even received an official announcement from the government…”  (Director)

“Actually, upon rechecking, it turns out it was a mistake…”(Researcher)

“What…?”  (Director)

The researcher blinks repeatedly and trembles as they speak.

“The number of monsters wasn’t in the thousands… it was 100,000…” (Researcher)

“100,000?! That’s way more than the initial report! How did it increase so much?!”  (Director)

A dry laughter escapes.

Our forces here consist of only a few hundred adventurers at the live concert venue.

Dealing with such an unimaginable number like 100,000, who can possibly handle it?

“It’s over… Today will go down as the worst day in Japanese history…”  (Director)

“So, this is Tokyo Bia Dome.” (Sora)

Sora’s live stream had reached the point where the concurrent viewers were about to exceed 2 million.

Being the first person to head there, amidst other streamers choosing not to go.

『Wow… he made the decision to go instantly…』

『As expected of Sora.』

『He’s our Sora.』

『Love him.』

『While other streamers are hesitating, he’s taking action. That’s seriously impressive.』

『There are too many people saying they won’t go, lol.』

When Sora arrived at the entrance of the live concert venue, he found a large gathering of police officers.

Amidst the crowded scene, they skillfully guided the injured individuals and ensured that no further chaos or trampling occurred.

『Wow… this is awful…』

『It’s like a scene from hell.』

『Oh no…』

『There are way too many people!』

It seems Sora arrived quite early, as only a short time had passed since the dungeon appeared.

“Oh, you managed to bring a drone here?” (Sora)

[As long as the network is connected, it can go anywhere.] (Sakuya)

“As expected of Sakuya.” (Sora)

Knowing that Sakuya is in a safe place is the most reassuring.

Due to the large-scale nature of the concert, there were a significant number of security personnel. Their efforts had paid off, allowing them to somehow maintain a balance against the monsters.

There were adventurers who were not streamers but still showed up, working in cooperation with the police to evacuate people and fight against the monsters.

“Use the monsters as shields to push them back!” (Police)

“Damn it! There are too many… Should I just use magic…?” (Adventurer)

“No, don’t attack with magic! You will risk involving innocent civilians!” (Police)

“Protect them! Right now, prioritizing evacuation is crucial!” (Police)

The command structure is in disarray… The current situation is quite unclear.

I hold my hands in the air and use a weapon that can move in the air effortlessly.

“First Technique… Water Fate Thread” (Sora)

I kicked off the ground and swiftly dash forward.

I cut through the battlefield and join the police officer who is engaged in a dangerous battle with a Lizardman.

With a powerful leap, I create a loop with my thread.

“Wha-!?” (Police)

“Gyaaah!?” (Lizardman)

The thread entangles, causing the Lizardman’s neck to be severed.

“A single strike…!?” (Police)

『The police officer got lucky there lol』

『What a stroke of luck!』

『One-shotting the Lizardman, wow!』

I turn my gaze towards the police officer.

“Are you alright…?” (Sora)

“Ah! You’re Ueno Sora!” (Watanabe)

I know this police officer.

It’s Watanabe-san, the officer I encountered the day before I saved Ookami Rika.

(Hey… You’re a high school student, right? There’s no way you can go to the lower levels. You’re not some big-time streamer or anything.) (Watanabe)

I vividly remember being told those words.

I am sensitive to being hurt. That’s why I never forgot it.

“I’m sorry for doubting you back then! It was rude of me to say such things!” (Watanabe)

Oh, a 90-degree apology right from the start…

As for the comments asking “Who is this?” I debated whether to explain, but I think I will put it off for now.

“I wanted to apologize for so long! And thank you for saving me!” (Watanabe)

“N-No… But more importantly, Watanabe-san, what’s the situation?” (Sora)

“W-Well, the priority is to ensure people’s evacuation, and we haven’t managed to evacuate everyone yet. Fortunately, there are adventurers and streamers who were invited by Anzai Miho, but it’s still cutting it really close…” (Watanabe)

Honestly, a sweep attack would be the easiest, but it would involve civilians. So, individually defeating them would be a safer approach.

“I’ll take care of the rest.” (Sora)

“Huh?” (Watanabe)

I took out a paper doll (Shikigami) and show it to her.

“Val, fortify the defenses. Don’t let any more people get hurt.” (Sora)

“As you wish.” (Valsark)

“Wow… It’s real…! Turning a boss into a shikigami…!” (Watanabe)

『Val is here!』

『That Watanabe is in the safest place right now lol.』

Don’t underestimate a Heian-era onmyoji, thinking they are only good at one-on-one battles. They can take on countless demons and monsters as well.

I need to end this situation as efficiently as possible.

I took off my jacket.

“Perhaps I should increase the rotation rate of my curse power… Continuous attacks can be tiring, but there’s no time to waste.” (Sora)

I circulate the curse power within my body, increasing its speed.

It’s akin to accelerating the flow of blood in my veins.

I perform this technique within my body, strengthening myself.

Here I go.

As I forcefully kick the ground, a cloud of dust rises.

“Hey, wait— he is already gone!” (Watanabe)

『Woowwww!』

『Fastt!』

『Yabai!』

『Mom, I’m scared!』

『He even left a dust cloud lol』

While passing through the horde of people, I continue to weave the Water Fate Threads.

There’s a battle going on over there too…

“Damn! I won’t lose here…!” (Adventurer)

“Gigagaaaah~!” (Monster)

“Excuse me.” (Sora)

*Paan!* The neck of the monster flies off.

“Eh? Wait, did something just passed by…?” (Adventurer)

Every time Sora moves, a monster collapses in that spot.

Meanwhile. the drone captures the scene of monsters being defeated.

『What the hell is this!?』

『Ehhh…!』

『Too strong!』

『Wait. Didn’t Sora fight a boss just now?』

『This is amazing LOLL』

『LMAO Even the drone can barely keep up!』

『So fast!』

『It’s like he is leaving afterimages!』

Entangling them with the threads.

Strengthening the threads’ durability to deflect attacks.

Extending them.

Connecting them.

The thread slips through gaps as small as the hole in a needle.

Seconds passed by.

Yet, in those few seconds, a single person single-handedly dealt with twenty monsters.

The viewers who witnessed that spectacle, as well as the adventurers inside the dome, were filled with awe and admiration.

“That’s amazing…” (Adventurer)

“Who is that person…?” (Adventurer)

“He is on a whole different level.” (Adventurer)

“He helped me.” (Adventurer)

『Wha?』

『They disappear just by touching the thread!?』

『This person is single-handedly changing the tide of battle…』

『Amazing LOLL』

『Woahh!』

『Sora is definitely the strongest in modern times, huh?』

『That’s my Onee-chan1! The person who he just saved me is my Onee-chan desu!』

The number of viewers continues to increase.

『I came here because it was trending and causing a big commotion, but this is amazing…』

『Even if you are not a first-time viewer, it’s still mind-blowing.』

『This is some crazy stuff…』

Sora just arrived, and only a few minutes have passed. Just in that short time, the live venue is filled with the corpses of the monsters.

『It seems like this video is being broadcasted overseas too!』

『Well, if a dungeon appears at Anzai Miho’s live concert, this is what you’d expect.』

『But even without that, this is still incredible!』

Inside Tokyo Bia Dome,

Sakakibara Katsu, an experienced adventurer in deep dungeons, was sweating.

“Good grief! Miho-san sure knows how to invite us to an extraordinary live event!” (Katsu)

He used his large shield to block the attacks of the monsters, protecting the civilians.

In combination with Ookami Rika, they skillfully lured the monsters together and defeated them with their swords.

Despite being an impromptu2 party, Katsu’s skillful support allowed Rika to move more freely.

“Katsu-san!” (Rika)

“I’ll be your shield! Rika-chan, aim for that opening!” (Katsu)

“Got it!” (Rika)

Katsu himself is already in his thirties.

Adventurers tend to be stronger when they are young, and it’s common for the top-ranked adventurers to be younger individuals.

However, Katsu continues his adventuring career because he needs money to treat his sister’s illness.

(Haha! I underestimated her. I thought that being a dungeon streamer would make her less capable. Turns out she can really move. Maybe it’s the youth!) (Katsu)

Katsu understood that his prime had already passed.

Nowadays he was relying on the experience he had accumulated to overcome the challenges of the deep levels.

(But… Aren’t there too many of them?! This won’t last long… Huh?) (Katsu)

He felt a sense of strangeness as he noticed a sudden decrease in the number of monsters spawning.

(Somehow… they are decreasing…) (Katsu)

He suddenly shifted his gaze towards Ookami Rika.

(Did she do something?) (Katsu)

“Wha!?” (Katsu)

Katsu strained his eyes.

Perhaps due to his age, he had trouble seeing things in the distance.

Someone seemed to be fighting…

(But it seems too fast for that…) (Katsu)

A mid-level monster, a Lizardman, appears before Katsu.

“Gigaa!” (Lizardman)

“Urgh–! Dammit!” (Katsu)

But then an aqua-colored thread entangles the Lizardman and its head popped off.

“Are you okay?” (?)

“W-Who are you…? Ah! Wait, don’t answer that!” (Katsu)

“Huh?” (?)

Katsu reached his hand to his forehead, trying to remember.

Being older, his memory wasn’t the best.

“Let me see… Oh, right! You’re Ueno Sora!” (Katsu)

“Yes, that’s correct…” (Sora)

“Did you come to help me!?” (Katsu)

“Yes, I did.” (Sora)

Katsu became excited, feeling a sense of youthful enthusiasm.

“I have been wanting to meet you! I am Katsu. The deep-level adventurers have been spreading rumors that you might be among the strongest of the next generation~!” (Katsu)

Katsu enthusiastically grabs both of Sora’s hands and shakes them up and down.

“Awa.” (Sora)

Sora, who is being shaken, lets out a bewildered expression and utters some words, while Katsu continues to speak with a smile.

“Well, it’s nice to be young. When I was young, this uncle was amazing too. Back in the day, there were no streaming apps, but oh boy, it was still incredible…”

As Katsu continues to ramble on, the bystanders who were being protected, along with Ookami Rika, start to notice.

“Eh, is that Sora-san!?” (Rika)

“Ah, he is the Sora-kun that Rika-chan was talking about!?” (Miho)

Ookami Rika, Anzai Miho, and many others were present there.

“Did he come to help…? But he’s just a kid.” (Bystander)

“So, that’s the famous Ueno Sora…!” (Bystander)

“It’s my first time seeing him!” (Bystander)

“The idiot child…!” (Bystander)

Skeptical voices and relieved voices intermingle. Amidst the mix of emotions, Sora speaks.

“Are you still able to fight?” (Sora)

“Yeah, of course!” (Katsu)

“Sora-san! I can still fight too!” (Rika)

It’s not just the two of them who can fight. Although their abilities may be inferior, there are other adventurers present here as well.

The path they came from is already filled with more monsters.

No matter how many they defeat, more keep spawning from somewhere.

“It’s impossible to protect all these people while moving, isn’t it?” (Katsu)

“Well, it’s definitely impossible… We’re barely managing to defend the entrance. There are still thousands of people inside…” (Rika)

Rika murmurs this.

“We can’t protect everyone… Someone has to be prepared to die.” (Rika)

So far, fortunately, there haven’t been any casualties in this live venue.

It was all thanks to the adventurers present there, fighting desperately, that this was possible.

They all shared the same determination not to let their fellow Anzai Miho fans to die. They were prepared for that.

Sora crossed their arms and placed a hand on his chin, appearing troubled. He began to growl, deep in thought.

“Hmm… hmm…” (Sora)

Those who recognized that growl were excited to have witnessed the real deal. Likewise, the comments section was getting noisy.

『There it is!』

『He started growling at this timing, lol.』

『Ehh…?』

『What’s he up to…? In such a hopeless situation…』

“I will hold back all the monsters, so can you move during that time?” (Sora)

Katsu and Rika are taken aback.

“….Huh?” (Katsu)

“….Eh?” (Rika)

『What is he saying…?』

『With this number…?』

『Nononono!』

『Nah, that’s impossible…』

『There’s no way he can do that lol』

『Even for Sora…』

Katsu’s face contorts.

“Umm, are you going to use magic?” (Katsu)

“It’s not magic, but something similar.” (Sora)

“No, that’s not allowed! You can’t use magic! What if you end up burying people under the rubble…!” (Katsu)

“No one will be caught in it.” (Sora)

“That’s impossible… Even the top-tier dungeon explorers wouldn’t be able to do something like that!” (Katsu)

“Haha, don’t worry. Well then…” (Sora)

Without saying anything more, Sora left them in the dust.

“Is… Is he really planning to do it alone…? Seriously!?” (Katsu)

Katsu couldn’t believe it.

The young man standing before him had eyes that held no trace of deception.

Sora stood atop a mountain of rubble.

When he looked up, the weather was clear. There were no clouds in sight.

Sora, in this clear world, stood tall.

Once he has taken a bird’s-eye view, it becomes a scene from hell.

Monsters are running rampant.

In the midst of it all, Sora stands.

The number of visible monsters easily reaches several thousand… It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say there could even be tens of thousands.

“Third Technique… Shikigami!”

With a puff of smoke, Gravito appeared right behind Sora.

“I didn’t expect you to use me so soon… You got quite the nerve.” (Gravito)

“I need a little help from you.” (Sora)

“And who said I would help you…!” (Gravito)

“I’ll heal your body for you. And I’ll also teach you something amazing.” (Sora)

“Hmm… if it’s something amazing, then I suppose…” (Gravito)

Gravito was injured during our battle, and I haven’t healed those wounds.

Well, even if he doesn’t help me I will still fix him.

I have learned a bit about how to handle Gravito using his thirst for knowledge.

Alright… Let’s go.

“Shii…” (Sora)

Regulate your breath.

Increase the beating of your heart.

Circulate your magical energy.

“Haa…” (Sora)

Concentrate the refined magical energy into a single point. Place your hands together to form a hand seal.

『I think the hand seal is a bit different?』

『It’s not the same as before…』

『With Gravito, it was one-handed!』

『But now it’s both hands!?』

『Oh no!』

Earlier, people like Katsu and Rika, as well as the viewers, said:

『It’s impossible.』

『Stopping it alone is impossible.』

『You can’t possibly do that!』

『There’s no way you can do it!』

I understand very well whether it’s impossible or not.

If I could simply back down and say, “Yes, you’re right,” when people tell me it’s impossible, then I wouldn’t be here right now.

I successfully performed the reincarnation technique that was deemed impossible, which is why I have been reincarnated from the Heian period.

As Ueno Sora, I stand here.

You never know until you try, even if it seems impossible. This is truly important.

I focus on the hand seals formed with both hands.

I’m an onmyoji who helps people.

“Fourth Technique…” (Sora)

In an instant, everything fell silent.

People witnessed it.

Surrounding Sora, a pitch-black darkness seemed to envelop everything.

“Fourth Technique…” (Sora)

What followed was an intensely concentrated surge of magical energy that should have been invisible, now made visible to the naked eye.

True Life Manipulation.” (Sora)

Katsu and Rika were astonished.

“Wha!?” (Katsu)

“────Whoa!!” (Rika)

(Sora-san’s demeanor has changed…! It’s not his usual relaxed self!) (Rika)

(Hey, hey, hey…! That pressure… Is he really just a young man!?) (Katsu)

The atmosphere around Sora had undergone a significant transformation, leaving everyone in awe.

People’s bodies were covered in goosebumps, as they intuitively understood.

Sora was stronger than anyone present… Stronger than the monsters themselves.

He possessed the power to single-handedly change everything.

Gravito’s thoughts race.

(Is he really planning to use my magic!? Wait! I cast magic using magical power, not curse power… I have no idea what will come out if it’s cast with curse power…!!) (Gravito)

He uses a completely different source of power.

For example, even if you try to charge a smartphone, it won’t fit or work if the charger’s shape is different and incompatible.

So, what if you forcefully plug it in and manage to charge it anyway? What if it actually works?

While the nature of electricity remains the same, the physical shape does hold significance.

The Fourth Technique… it can be described as the transfer of souls.

It reflects the soul from one object to another. This technique is used for purposes such as removing curses or relocating shikigamis.

By sharing consciousness with a shikigami and amplifying its abilities, one can manipulate it on their own.

In that fleeting silence…

Curse Severance: Gravity Loss!” (Sora)

Shiiii… KABOOM!

The intense gravity targets only the monsters, while the people manage to completely avoid its effects.

“Huh? A few managed to escape… Hey, Gravito, control it properly. I’ll be mad if you don’t.” (Sora)

“Sora! It’s because you suddenly unleashed such tremendous power! It has long exceeded my capacity…!” (Gravito)

“I’m also assisting with the control, right?” (Sora)

Gravito breaks into a cold sweat.

(Damn it! This guy is single-handedly controlling it with many times more power than me…! I can’t argue back…! I can’t afford to lose!)

The gravity effectively captures the remaining monsters.

『Huh, did the monsters just stop moving?』

『What was that just now? It was amazing…』

『What did you do? I don’t really understand.』

“What on earth…?” (Adventurer)

“The movement of the monsters has stopped…?” (Adventurer)

“I think he stopped the movement of the monsters in this area…” (Adventurer)

『Whaaa?!』

『Seriously?!』

『He is using the gravity magic that Gravito used earlier!』

『Madness lol』

『Does this mean that Sora amplified Gravito’s abilities?!』

“Ar-Are you kidding me…! How big do they think this area is?!” (Adventurer)

“There are thousands of them…!” (Adventurer)

“This is crazy…” (Adventurer)

Seeing the success of his technique, Sora laughs without paying attention to the voices of others.

“He’s laughing…” (Adventurer)

To others, it may seem like madness, but to Sora himself, he was simply filled with pure joy.

Magic and curse power are indeed different. If the output is different, you just need to adjust it.

Magic may change, but its essence remains the same.

In other words, I, as an onmyoji, have ventured into the realm of power beyond onmyodo… into the realm of magic.

What else could it be if not a source of joy?

“Ah! Umm…Katsu-san! Please move everyone to a safe place quickly!” (Sora)

“Ah, yes!” (Katsu)

With just one person, the tide of the battle is turned.

TL notes:
